Just added 5 volumes of The RGS Story to my book collection!
Have Vos 1-4 and Vol 6.
Need to locate Vol 5, and Vols 7-12.
$250 for the set. Not bad, since I've seen V1 alone, bring in from $150-$200.
Depending on where one looks too.
Have wanted this set of books for years!!

I've seen this series noted in the past. Must have a lot of information, in order to do so many volumes on that railroad!

Lot of photos, from what I've seen, reading V1 during lunch at work last night.
It's gonna make for lots of interesting reading!
I've already found some of the missing'volumes I need.
Problem is, the $499.95 asking price for at least one of those volumes!!
    Yeah, you read that right!!

Ouch. There are a few books which command such prices. I sold a (not RGS) book last year for nearly that amount.

Who are the photographers? Men such as Otto Perry? And?

I had a feeling with as many photos as you'd noted, there had to be a "who's who" of names behind those pictures.

About half way through V1, and of that, maybe half of that is photos!!
Also a few building plans, and track layouts of various locations.
I'd thought of a review, but I think it might be a bit tough, and taken too long!!
Although, I'd strongly recommend the series, in full, or in part, if you like Colorado narrow gauge.
Just the price of the books that's really gonna smart!

Perhaps when you've perused all volumes at hand, you will have an idea what locations ever had a depot or train order office? I am curious as to what the one at Glencoe. I was told it was supposedly small and not open very long.

I'll take a look through and see what kind of info I can find.
Need to find out where Glencoe was once located first. Shouldn't be too bad.

Glencoe was 9.5 miles from Dolores. Between Dolores and Mancos.

Take a look on my web site, in the "TOUR" section. There is an RGS train order copied at Glencoe.

I'll take a quick look, before I crash for the night.
Will post something, if I come across anything.
    I suspect that anything goes!

A quick check of V6 takes me to Dolores, with a couple of mentions of Glencoe.
I do not have building information, drawings etc...That could be in Vol 7, 8, or maybe 9.
I won't know anything until I can somehow acquire the remaining volumes of the series
that I currently do not have. Need to keep an eye out for the missing volumes and buy
'em if I find 'em for reasonable cost. I'll go up to the $75 I've seen several copies sell for
    through the Amazon market place.

Just my luck that any info could be in a book you still need to find. Argh!

Sunbird Train Mart in CoS had a bunch of books at one time, they might be a good source, but they might command high prices too.

    Yeah,
I found a source for the volumes I need.
Most for under $75. With 3-4 going for $215 and up!!
The one that might contain the info you want, is Vol 8, which covers Dolores to Mancos.
Only copies I've come across so far, go for $215-$250 each!!
I've got a couple of other places to check. Contacted the CRRM
asking if they have the series available and what price.
Don't care to spend more than maybe $100 at most for copies.
I may consider ordering several of the missing volumes this week, on payday!

Wal Mart maintenance calls out to me 5 nights a week!!
It does have its advantages! But it also means I have to
get up every night and go to work.
So, I actually have to do something! :uhoh:

Wish I could do that- Even part time. This morning the pain levels are sky high and I am having major troubles even trying to stand up straight, plus a left leg partially numb and a brain squisher headache. RATS.

I was actually looking into SSDI recently, because of the pain and problems I was having.
Left foot hurting so darn bad I could hardly walk! Has gotten better lately, but I still hurt
considerably by nights end. Bet the walking of several miles a night does NOT help matters!
Have a friend out, with damaged disc in back, and 3-4 vertebrae
that are broken at least part way!!

    As Red Green said:

Remember, I'm pullin' for ya. We're all in this together.

Well, found copies of Vols 5, 10-12 at the CRRM.
Just over $265, with tax and museum discount.
Pretty darn close to what I paid for the first five books I have.
Now, if anyone can point me towards Vols 7-9, at REASONABLE cost......

I've seen them, going for $215 to over $500.
Know of a KS store that has the missing books, from $215-$280.
Might have to choke on one this week, and the last two next payday.
Looking like I'm NOT gonna have a choice!!
