Hello. Has there been any discussions about Z scale at the NTS for this year in Grapevine, TX? Anyone going to the NTS this year that runs Z scale? There will be a small group set up running Z scale trains at the NTS this year. Look for us in location #311 in the main hall. There will be a layout using Z-Bend Track modules and some Bring Your Own Z (BYOZ) individuals. My name is Chad Bryan with 35/45 Z-Bend Track in Houston, TX. Rob with Z Track Magazine said he will be there with a booth. Regardz, Chad
SWEET Chad!!!! Glad to hear that we will have some Z-representation there, and especially glad to see the Houston crowd showing up in force. While many of us would love to be there, work and other obligations hold us back. Rest assured the Z-scale crowd is there in spirit. Make sure to keep us updated on this forum with pics.
I'll be joining Chad with a layout using a combination of my T-rail-Z and T-track-Z modules. I'll be happy to include one or two modules of either standard in my layout. Either way feel free to bring some trains to run on my modules.
Hi Chad, Clyde and myself are flying down from Idaho, so we will be there and visit you at the BYOZ area. Unfortunately I am no longer able to setup Z-Bend Track modules, so I gave mine away to the new Colorado ZBT group. But I will bring some stuff to look at and talk about. Looking forward to seeing you guys!
I will be there as a spectator only. I had grand plans, including bringing my layout as a BYOZ. But alas, work got in the way. So I'll live vicariously through Thom. Fun fact....Thom logs more Z-scale miles per year than any 15 of us put together.
I'm planning to be there from Colorado, along with 3 of rray's ZBT modules and a diamond to link them in. I have new adjustable height legs fit to the modules.
David George contacted me several months ago and he has been reducing his Z scale module count at his house. I have acquired several modules of his and will be bringing them to the NTS to sell. All the proceeds from the sale will go to the Bill Kronenberger Fund that is run by Rob Kluz at Z Track Magazine. One of the modules is David's first Z scale module and is very detailed and quite large. To large for me to handle by myself to set up at shows. Other modules are much smaller and in various stages of scenery and track work. Stop by and look over the modules for sale and take one or more home!
How did I not know about this happening essentially in my backyard? Might have been the kick I needed to finish at least one of my modules to something reasonable. Ah well. Like Doug, I'll have to be a spectator. However, if you need hands for setup, tear down, or anything else please DM me.
WOW --- looks as though we may have quite the Z-scale showing for this. Kudo's to all that are taking the time to attend!!!
Well, I'm doing the whole week of NMRA convention with layout and prototype tours, clinics, model contest, etc., then the wee finishes with the grand finally of the National Train Show! I'm doing clinics Monday, Layout tours w/lunch on Tuesday, the JFK Museum & Dealey Plaza tour w/lunch on Wednesday, Contest room and clinics Thursday, Grapevine Vintage Railroad & Fort Worth Stockyards excursion all day Friday, so I will miss the first day of the National Train Show, but Saturday I will be at the NTS. I had purchased an NMRA Banquet ticket, but if we do as usual at the NTS, and have our traditional Saturday Night Z Scale Dinner, I will attend that instead of the NMRA Banquet. Also, I will have to find some time to do the water park, since the hotel has a water park on the grounds.
Wish I could go. I was actually slated to go for my employer (Atlas), but some health treatments are keeping me back. You might just see something new in Z scale at the Atlas booth.. Steve W

35/45 Z-Bend Track modules loaded and ready to be set up and run some trains. One module is the first Z-Bend Track module built back in 1996 and still used today and has been to six NTS shows. I will leave Houston hopefully around noon tomorrow (Wednesday) and head North to Grapevine. Need to be at the convention center for unloading by 6:00 pm tomorrow. Looking forward to the show and please stop by the layout. We are in spot 311 and looks to be in the front row all the way on the left side if I interrupted the map correctly. Don't forget our Z scale dinner on Saturday. Details in a different previous thread above. I will be the goofy looking guy in the black top hat. So maybe you seen it before at a previous NTS.
We'll be heading out at 7am tomorrow morning for estimated arrival time by 6pm for unloading. I'm looking forward to seeing everyone again and running trainz. Z you there!
Safe travels to all that are headed in for the show. If time allows, make sure to send updates for those of us that unfortunately couldn’t make it. Photos please….
