Deshler is nice, but if your taking the trip to Ohio you GOT to see Fostoria. 100-150 movements on CSX Alone. Fostoria if it ever gets its park will be vastly better than anything out there, Including Rochelle.
Count me out. Fostoria's not worth the drive for me. Besides, I've got obligations in Deshler for that weekend that'll keep me close by.
We'll have to see what the weather is like, and we won't abandon you if you need us to help you with stuff. I'll have to see what kind of traveling time is involved too.
You guys are more than welcome to help out with the model train club if you come over, but we weren't banking on you guys helping, if you get my drift. You could do a half-day in Deshler and a half day in Fostoria, or whatever. I guess my thinking is that I'm not going to see much more on CSX in Fosty than I am in Deshler, and NS I don't really care about, so that's not such a draw for me. If I want NS I'll just head a few miles south of Deshler to Leipsic and hit the same line that goes through Fosty with just a little less driving.
Fostoria is close enough to me that I can make it a sepaprate trip anouther time if necessary. I'll stick close by with you Brian. Oh, by the way Brian, If you bring your layout, can I bring some NS equipment to run so your layout is truly multi-cultural?
Brain, what road names do you run? I have one piece left over from my n scale layout that I didn't sell off. I'd be willing to bring it and and donate it to the club. It's a nice piece. A surprise if I may say so. It would look ok on a siding too.
Where do I begin... Herman: It's your call if you want to hit Fosty or not on this trip. Since you're over this way, and it's on your way home/out you might as well schedule a few hours there before or after Deshler. No sense letting this opprotunity pass you by! Go ahead and bring the equipment, I'd be interesting in running it. Could ya also grab a power pack? My Tech III died and I haven't been able to run anything since. Johnny: The N scale layout is my own, not the clubs, so any donations would be to me... I run right now DT&I, Ironton Terminal, Grand Valley, and JELX engines. Might pick up a new one before the show, we'll see.
I'll just play fostoria by ear and if at all, will hit it on the way home as I did with Horeshoe Curve and Galitzen after Cumberland. Unfortunately all I have currently is my Prodigy DCC unit. I am set up for dual control but my old Controlmaster 5 burned up a couple months ago with much smoke and bad smells. If you run into a real bind , maybe I can "borrow" a power pack from work for a weekend or something.
Brian, I'm curious as to where you will set up your layout. I have a spare small power pack I could give you, you know one of those little blue ones or whichever I still have left. Don't know if it would help any. My Tech 2 is something I'd rather leave at home, but if the little one would help I'll bring it along. I had a few that people had given me and I wanted to keep one for lighting. I can spare one I'm sure. I gave away about 3 or 4 others over the years. I still don't know how I ended up with all of them! My N scale piece is an 85 ft coach from the NYC. It's two tone grey if you could use it. It's just gathering dust on my bookshelf. Would be happy to pass it along to a TB pal. It doesn't have Kadees but I'm sure you can fix that. Let me know about both things.
I bought a small Atlas Custom Power 1700 power pack tonite at work. I tried it on my layout and it works well. I will bring it along.
Bring 'em all guys! Free stuff, even if only loaners, is always good! I've got a variety of work to be done on the layout, so hopefully you guys will have something you can help me with.
I just e-mailed you guys with directions to the park and the meeting place. Less than a week to go! Hang in there!
Hey guys! I just treated myself to an early birthday gift. I bought a scanner! So my next question is; Does anyone know the frequencys for Norfolk Southern and CSX in Northeastern Ohio? I bought a Radio Shack PRO-76. Got it on close-out (last one) for $63.00. I will be up all night trying to figure out how to program this thing. Brian. Thanks for the directions!
