Hans, Can you give us a projected release date, roadnames and if AZL will offer undecorated cars? John Bartolotto
No dates yet. If we are lucky December/January. This is the first of several heavyweights. Ther will be plenty of railroads. No decision on undecorated units. We have never had undecorated units and we will probably not have any this time either. Maybe in the distant future.
Nice era. Love the body mounted couplers and forward offset truck bolster. These are going to look nice behind the upcoming steam ! Full trains, shorter excursion or pulled by a diesel running on a 'modern' era layout. I would suggest undecorated for the many that want to 'expand' your limited road or named/numbered/variation cars. Plus, spare parts (a sore subject), kit bashes (like the classic Presidential car !). Please . .
YES! Why in the future? Now! It's like a pub in South Australia: they have sign outside FREE BEER TOMORROW, but that sign is out every day... BTW: Hans, they look great
Undecorated units: If we were to offer undecorated units in the future, they would probably be as partially assembled kits, since the value to a customer to have an unpainted unit with glued on glass will be limited. It will definitely cost the same as a decorated unit. A kit would not fit in the box either, unless we choose not to include the vacuum inserts.
Plain pullman green would suit me. Why not get those who want them to pre-order them so you don't get stuck with any? Speaking for myself I could really use undec bay window cabooses and GP30's for my Nickel Plate road if you have no plans to bring those colour schemes out ready done Cheers KEV
I am hoping some will come out in CB&Q..but the first one I get will get a nice faded orange paint scheme and MOW decals. Cant wait!
Hans, Test the waters with some undecorated cars, see how they sell and are received by customers then gauge it from there as to whether or not it is a good business decision. Just a recommendation. Yours, John
Since they are working with Sanda Kan they may not have the option to do undec's. We negotiated with them several years ago and they were firm about only doing complete cars...paint, lettering, the whole shooting match. But it is SDK and the winds change daily over there....good luck. Joe
Hi Gerd, I can pass already some job to you to strip them to "Lehigh Valley" ? Doubt that this may be about the railroad names. So my first AZL-Shopping ahead.
Dear Armand, Ah Yes!! Lehigh Valley in the Cornell Red. I think London Bridge has the Z Scale decals for them. But, thank you Hans. Any of these Heavyweights will do. Please, no limited runs- these will sell off the shelf faster than you can say dollar signs. A big addition to the scale - probably more than you think! Keep em coming- Donna
Even if the price is the same than a decorated sample I feel more comfortable to start from an undec sample rather than ruining a superbly factory painted unit. For example the MTL GP35 I'm redecorating for my future "Cerveza, Tortillas y Tequila Railroad" was an UP sample, wearing a paintscheme that is not anymore in use now, and thus not matching my current era layout. Thus it was of no use for me. Despite that, I had my heart twisting when I put the loco's shell into the 90° alcohol bath and seeing the original paint going apart... I'm a little bit sensitive, but it's like this.:tb-wacky: So for my future conversions involving MTL as well as AZL stuff, I'd definitly prefer to start from undec stuff, even partially completed (as a former airplane kit modeller I'm not affraid with this).:tb-wink: Dom
