Heads up those of you on Ray's list, he's distributing another Fallen Flag pass, don't know how limited edition they are, but we've gone from "dead" to two.

Any hints as to what it is? Hopefully, I will hear from Ray soon.

I find this whole concept to be quite fascinating. I do however, find it a touch...something (hard to put into words), so I have some not so intelligent questions:

    1) Do they serve any other purpose than just a collectible calling card?

    2) Do physical cards have to be business card size?

    3) Are there appropriate design standards or are there simply some basic requirements to be met, and then the rest is free reign?

    4) I tried producing a business card card, and it was a bit of a disaster. Is there someone out there that would be willing to take a look at it and offer many suggestions for improvement?

    Chris-

This is simply a neat way of having a small physical interaction with other model railroaders, most if not all we may never meet. The end result is a souvenir from their model railroading efforts. Another activity has also been a car exchange- But that can be scale dependent, and cost a few dollars beyond time and effort. So a pass is quite inexpensive.

They range from business card size, through prototype railroad which is slightly larger than a credit card, on to post card sized or more. Some folks keep these in a photo album, so probably keeping it under 3" by 5" is wise.

What you put on the card is up to you. Generally the railroad name, scale, logo. Colors? Your name as president or superintendent, and?

That would be the one. Perhaps you got one from the source railroad already?

Yes. I traded with Ernie about 7 years or so back. But have now received this latest via Ray, and am certainly happy to add it into my little album.

I drew up some passes for the old G&OM for friends of mine and stuck them in Christmas cards a few years ago. I actually started to update the master ticket over last weekend, not quite satisfied with it yet. I'd like to do the e-pass deal, just haven't gotten around to it yet.

OK. Just wondering. There are a bunch of fellows out there who'd be interested in trading, but don't do e-passes.

Even though construction of my layout has not started an electronic rail pass is available. Please visit my web site Modeling The Bay Line and click on the Electronic Rail Pass button, fill out the form and submit your request. You will receive a 550 pixel by 450 pixel .jpg file sent to the email you provided. Paper epasses are still in the design stage and won't be available for a while.

I'm new to these boards, haven't even posted in the introduction section yet, but as I'm browsing the site I come across this thread. I have never heard of passes for model railroads. It's a great idea! I will have to get started on a design.
