Doofus, sorry I missed your post, that is going to look like an excellent scene, don't forget some trees . What type of hoppers are they?
Those are Deluxe Innovations Bethgon Coal Porters. They are decorated for the LaCygne (the swan) power plant run by KCPL (KCLX). Trees are next, along with a backdrop. Not too many though. These are wide open spaces out in this part of the country. Lots and lots of prairie grass!
doofus !! That is Humongous !! How the heck are you able to run such a train.. If I even ran 1/8th of those Carriages my Train would look like a tail chaser !!
paul that sd45 will fit with the mopac, just after the merger was announced the up leased 4 or 6 sd45's to the mp which later went back to up when the merger was done.
Mitch, I'm assuming the UP SD45? Unfortunately they never got to the paint shop and painted in Jenks Blue
In keeping with the UP flavour I decided to operate a UP train on the layout well almost toally UP 1. A UP train hauled by MOPAC SD40's exits Witchita interchange yard 2. The units are replaced with UP sd45 and two MOPAC SD40's one in jenks blue the ohter in its newer scheme and soon to be UP 3. The hot shot UP train is now headed for the mainline. 4. The next two shots give a closer view of the locomotives. Great to see this topic still alive and well
Good looking layout, Paul! Nice units, too. I like SD45s even in UP colors. (I think we are getting an engineer's class on that soon.)
Sherman Hill Model RR Club's N layout, as a triplet of SD40T-2's ease thru a cut with CSDPU coal loads bound for Colorado Springs:
Until it was suggested I hadn't thought of putting these all together into a unit, but what the heck, you olny go around once. Passing the recycling center and Halum distributor is more dog food then you can shake a stick at.
