I guess they must have named this car to honor the completion of the Lucin Cutoff in 1904.

The transcontinental "Golden Spike" took place at Promontory Summit 40 or so mile north of Promontory Point which is at the end of a peninsula jutting out into the middle of the Great Salt Lake.

CSX U-18B 1892, former SCL 254. Montgomery AL, 10/29/1989. Hmmm, that "2" stencil font doesn't quite match the others. Must have run out of Microscale decals. ;)

I had exactly the same reaction!:ROFLMAO:

That NW2 is still looking good! Very snazzy in that color scheme.:)

Ah, so beautiful. Looks like West Chicago where the J crossed the C&NW, JB Tower I think. I have memories, but no photos of the centercabs when they were painted orange and green. Centered atop the cab was a flashing light (red I think?) and I thought these were so cool as a kid.

1931 view of the Rosenberg, Texas Express office. The Union Station for the GC&SF (Santa Fe) and the GH&SA (Southern Pacific) is behind the palm trees to the left of the Express office.

It spans all three tracks and would span a fourth and maybe even a fifth, if they were there.

    :D
