I'm guessing Pete has to clear out the end of his driveway first. Those snowplow drivers show no mercy for those with driveways. They sometimes leave a mountain behind.
Before I could go out to get beer, Jeanne got stuck coming back in. So, yes, I had to shovel first. It was a road grader, and he dumped most of the snow on the other side. There are pastures and a few vacant lots out here, and he seemed to take good advantage of them in directing the snow. The road crews are very nice. About every two years they blow out all the culverts under driveways. They do not have to do that; it's just one of those nice gestures.
Follow the UP Plow! http://www.uprr.com/aboutup/excurs/trace.cfm Found this link over on the Atlas Forum. It seems the UP put a GPS in the crew quarters of the steam crew. The crew also operates the rotary. Watch for a box labeled "steam". You will need to zoom in to find it's location. At the moment, appears to be back home in Cheyenne. If y'all get more snow, may see it out on the "green line"?? It's not Google Earth, so you don't get satellite pictures. You do get a good idea of where the UP lines go.
Well it finally snowed here in Saint Paul on New Year's Eve. I think we got a whole 3"-4" Today the high was around 41 degrees!!! and same tomorrow.....the world has gone mad.
Pete, since I have been unable to access the site since the 31st, is this the second snowfall in ABQ? Seems you had one earlier. Man, being out of beer is the pits. I remember one time being snowed in at Mammoth Mountain, CA, and I walked from the condo to a store downtown in deep snow to get more beer. Priorities, you know. :teeth:
