    Well, I am planning on making a series of cars for the 'Grey and Grandure'. Sigh, I just realized my fantasy railroad reporting mards are:
    GAG, (Grey and Grandure)
    MAL, (Main Line)
    Oh well, works for me. ☻

    So, do share, what are yours?

    Grey One: I'd recommend GGX or simply GG.

    I don't have a fantasy road. I will run reporting marks like CCTX, IPSX, AEPX, SSIX (private utility-owned cars) and lots of D&RGW.

    @HemiAdda2d 'GG' - Ya, I think you are right. Thanks!
    I was overthinking it.
    So: 'GG' and 'ML'
    With the occasional 'MAL GAG', (bad joke), with the 2nd 'G' being backwards.
    It's a funny thing that on one hand my whole layout is fantasy yet on the other I'm trying to blend that wish some aspects of the prototype. Maybe that is the weirdest part of the whole thing.

    I model Europe, we do not have reporting marks like in the US, I have to use the UIC code for Italy 83, so I have a logo for my freelance.
    LOGO FRA.jpg
    It is not really my work but just searching on the interet for FRA LOGO, i got the logo of a UK "Flat roofing association" which dulifully transformed in the "Ferrovie regionali dell'Appnnino" (Regional Railways of Appennini - a mountain area in central Italy where my layout is located).

    You can also model a transition period in which the RR changed its logo/reporting marks, so you have a mix if that suits your taste better since these transitions may last many years.
    I use three liveries (two logos) as my layout can be set in a 1964 to 2004 time span, so the older cars have the livery and logo of a real private railroad which in my history grouped into the FRA in the 70s, the later cars have FRA liveries in green and white, and the latest cars in red.
    I normally plan to run a solid livery with the occasional car or loco in another color depending on the time i am playing and the train consist.

    Well, I take that back if you count the beat up old rust-bucket gondola that sits on a spur track to be used as a buffer car if the need arises. But it hasn’t moved in so long it may be rusted to the rails…..:D

    The CD&WJV Railroad, my home road. The 1st letter of each family member, in chronological order, Carl, Diane & Wes, James, Virginia. We lived in Albuquerque twice so I was familiar with Chama and the Jemez mountain area so the name came pretty easily to fit the letters.

    I never really got into the fantasy or fictitious roadname aspect of model railroading. I know there are lots of great proto-freelanced layouts featured in the hobby magazines, my favorite probably being Utah Belt, and plenty of fantasy lines like the G&D. The closest I get to a fantasy reporting mark is a steel coil car that wasn't patched until after my modeling year. Backdating would require basically repainting the whole car, so I never bothered.

    I have a few other foobie cars, but nothing outright fictitious or imaginary.

    I'm surprised that nobody has posted one of those Trainboard boxcars, weren't those TBX reporting marks?

    Nearly 25 years ago I messed around with doing my own short line, the "SSL" with reporting marks SSLX. This was back when I was learning how to airbrush and do my own decals on the ALPS printer. These were supposed to look right at home pooled with either Frisco power or Southern Pacific. I never really developed it beyond the concept stage though...

    * Coal Train unit Train - JAZ?
    * Autorack unit Train -
    * RR Rental company -
    * Other? (Please keep in mind this is a *family* forum)

    Pictures:
    OLDER LIVERY
    here an older boxcab electric (a repainted german loco, but looks wuite well the part), with the script logo "ferrovia sangritana" (the real one).
    E 6 FAS copia.jpeg
    RDCs do not have an issue with liveries, this one sticks for the whole period, since there is no point in repainting stainless steel.
    then one of the Budd RDCs with the new logo, at the refueling track

    SECOND FRA COLOURS
    an F3 (still in the works) with matching coaches in the second style livery
    D 4110 FRA copia.jpg
    LATE FRA COLORS
    on a Russian built german railways (DB) diesel, which is basically patching up FRA logos on an actual German Railways regional livery (easy to make).
