    Herman, this is great!

We can surely get enough cars to take all of us around whether you bring the pickup or not. I can or my buddy Louie can take at least 4 in one car. man, if Louie brings his ca, I'll ride in the back of the truck and whoop out loud! (Sorry, City boys don't get to do that much!!!!)

Meyersdale is close to Sand Patch. I'm sure you can find a motel room closeby! And the Western Maryland sounds great too! If you feel up to it we can go down to Romney instead. I'm changing my mind about going far! LOL! Whatever the majority wishes!

Brian, do you know where the tower used to be near the old iron truss bridge and the tunnel? My cousins live roughly a mile from there! That's always been my favorite spot, but we should cover all we can too! Just above Meyersdale is some beautiful countryside too.

This is excellent! OK, who will be coming from overseas????? LOL! We're an International Group and we need a volunteer!!!!!!!! [IMG]

GUYS! WHAT TIME CAN WE ALL MAKE IT???

MYSELF, LOUIE, PETE, JOHN, MIKE AND HERMAN WILL BE THERE ALREADY, BUT WHAT TIME DOES EVERYONE SAY IS BEST FOR THEM??????? JON AND BRIAN NEED TO TELL US TOO.

9 AM SOUNDS GOOD TO ME. 4 AM SOUNDS GOOD TO ME. WE CAN GO DOWN TO CUMBERLAND AND WELCOME BRIAN OFF OF THE TRAIN. LIKE AN OLD SOLDIER COMING HOME FROM THE RAILROAD WARS!

ARE OUR PICTURES STILL IN TB? IT'S BEEN A LONG TIME SINCE ANYONE POSTED ONE.

As it stands now, I have a room reserved at the Fairfield Inn in Uniontown. My sis-in-law can get me the VIP rate as she works for Fairfield Inn here in Willoughby, Oh.
It's a drive but worth it for $35.00 a night.
I can meet y'all anywhere in the area by 9AM just let me know where and give me general directions. The wife is not interested in coming but I might bring a friend. [IMG] [IMG]

John, can you give Herman the directions to Meyersdale Station?
9 am sounds good to me!
I just talked to my buddy Louie and he was freaked out when I told him about all of us aiming for Sand Patch! He said he is looking forward to it!

I guess the fastest most direct route for me would be the PA Turnpike to the Sommerset exit and then south 219 towards Meyersdale. I intend on railfanning with you all on friday wherever you want to go, be it Sand Patch or Dog Patch. I will be staying in Uniontown overnight friday night and intend on riding the Western Maryland train saturday if we can get it together, but I must leave for home sometime saturday night. I just need directions to wherever you want to meet at on friday morning.

John, give the man some directions! LOL!

So, 9 am at Meyersdale on that Friday sounds great!
I plan to ride the WM Sat come rain or shine!
As I know from my cousin Pete, the local boys can show lots of cool railroad stuff, including a LONG trestle that's now Rails toTrails.

I'll be staying at the Mance Training Camp, assuming nobody else is around. If there is, then I'll be camping on the CSX pull-off in Manilla...

I remember the first "THRILLAH IN MANILA" but sounds like you are going to have another!

Hey, have you heard of Mexico, Pa. since we are taking about foreign names of Pa. towns? It's a great spot I hear. Kinda far from Sand Patch, and it will be another trip another day. I was wondering if any had ever been there before. And no kidding, it's there on the map........it's not far from Cuba, Pa! [IMG]

    Herman,
Once comming in from Somerset, on Route 219, after in Meyersdale keep on the look out for a sign with "Main Street" on it it will be on the left hand side of you comming from Somerset, once on Main Street go clean up to the railroad tracks, this is the CSX main Street crossing, after crossing continue up the hill till you get near the top, off to your left again you'll see a large red brick building, thats the Western Maryland "Meyersdale" station, this is where we all will meet.... I hope thats good dirrections.... To bad i can't draw out a map. it be easier to follow....

    I wish..... :D

I did pass through Cumberland back in 2k, but had to make the choice of visiting Washington DC via MARC or Sandpatch...I went for DC...

Sandpatch will still be there next time I come over, right? :D

Thanks for the directions. I plan to be there by 9am. I will be driving a silver Toyota 4x4 with Ohio plates. Still not sure if I will have a friend with me yet. Should we reserve tickets on the WM? Their site recommends it.
It is the tourist season and the weekend and it might be crowded. Just a suggestion. [IMG]

Gee, I don't know. I'll try to get in contact with my cousins and find out. We need a tally of exactly how many of us there will be. Do you need to pay in advance?
