If you have to reserve by credit card (which most require), it would be easiest I think to just reserve coach tickets individually as I think I read that the actual seating in the coaches is not reserved.
Just a slight change of plans. The Fairfield Inn in Uniontown sold out, which means that my discount rate went down the tubes. So I bailed on that idea and got a reservation at the Super 8 in Somerset. A much more convienent location anyway. I also reserved myself a ticket on the WMSR which leaves Cumberland at 11:30AM on Saturday July 27. OH BOYOBOYOBOY!
I ws talking to my cousin who lives in Uniontown last week and he reminded me of something I had forgotten about. This trip to Sand Patch will be kind of like a family re-discovery thing for me as he reminded me that my beloved late Grandfather fired steam engines on the B&O line that runs from Connelsville to Cumberland. He told me that Gramp fired on an loco called "Old Maude" #2400, which I found a picture of in the book B&O Power by Sagle & Staufer. This loco was used as a helper at Sand Patch. I still can't believe the coincidence of this. This trip has taken on a whole new meaning for me!
Herman, THATS GREAT!! Ole Maude!! The was the USA's first mallet!!!!!! I imagine it would be a family reuniting experience! I hope it brings in as much as it sounds like it does online in person!
