You could look into N scale cork roadbed. You’ll have to leave a gap between the pieces to get the beveled edge out to the end of the ties, but I’ve done that before with success.

Brilliant idea! (y) Just measured and the 3mm X 1 1/4" black Woodland foam would be PERFECT as 'ave been cutting the HO stuff down the middle anyway! Want the track l o w e r on the board to eventually lay ballast and while would luv to try cork it's quite more expensive sooo . .

Isn't the ultimate idea to "no see it" anyway!

    Thanks!
    Chinchilla Bath Sand?

(ps: son gave me his 'retired', overheating XBOX One with no controller conx so after replacing the wifi chip and cleaning/rebuilding the motherboard with new heat sink "thermal paste" it again works like a CHAMP!)

Picked up a couple of older Mantua steamers. The 4-6-2 I already converted to DCC, the Mikado is next with sound.

I got a nice deal on some Wiking automobiles at a LHS. They should all be from what is considered in German model railroading to be Era III (1945-1970). I have a small collection of Marklin trains that I like to set up now and then. These cars should complement them well.

The first set of cars are: Tatra 87, VW Kafer, Citroen 2 CV.

The next set are: DKW Meister Klasse, DKW Universal, Porsche 356 Coupe.

I went to a model Train show in Pleasanton, Ca. last Sunday and picked up a couple of HO scale goodies. The Athearn WP GP9 is my first loco in orange and silver and I have a caboose fetish, so I needed Intermountain UP 25020:

Am on a mission! Prior to replacing track-bed and adding gravel on 'bout 100' of brass sectional track will tear up & DO AWAY with all those "crusty, 2'nd hand" brass rail connectors and install BRAND NEW "automatic self-locking" Atlas NS #170 connectors instead!

Found a few more Wiking vehicles.
    A Mercedes 200 ambulance, Ford 17M, and a Krupp 806.

Hopefully my lighting is a little better today. I know have a lot of room for improvement.

@GP30 two "N scale" 24ft continuous roll foam roadbeds arrived today (am wary of "cork') and, in fitting HO track perfectly, just ordered 100ft more of DCC Concepts 2ft tan strips . . .

. . . at what amounts to less than half the price of black WS?

    Thx for the suggestion (y)(y)

As part of our club Christmas Party this year, during the gift exchange I managed to snag a couple of flat cars to add to the fleet. I was especially interested in the B&O Bulkhead flat.

Yea! Had to KNUDGE 'EM with a message only ordered more "N Scale" roadbed on Dec 29th!

HO layout is in a mid-life crisis. Between painting ply, jacking layout table(s) higher, replacing crusty rail connectors along with new 3mm roadbed maybe, just maybe, can start on ballast once everything cheeks :D out?

Am pondering adding another 4X8 for a "pass-thru" yard? Note to self: clean garage and TOSS more sheeeet OUT . . .

I just picked these up at the local train store. I've been working to update my fleet and got down to the last two after last night's efforts.[IMG]

Class One had the CSX HD flats on sale - buy one get one free… couldn’t pass that up. I’ll have to patch ‘em out and backdate a little bit…. But they’re pretty nice.

Heard there had been some QC issues around coupler heights and warping, but the ones I got were good out of the boxes. The trucks don’t roll that well through

Picked up this Bachmann Spectrum Consolidation from Ebay. It was at a good price as it was listed as not tested because the circuit board was no good. I get rid of the boards so I can direct wire decoders in anyway, so I figured I'd roll the dice and buy it. I like these old Spectrum models. Not prototypical for every railroad, but they are great runners, nicely detailed, and outfitted with a sound decoder, a whole lot cheaper than paying $700+ for a new steam locomotive.

It turns out that everything works just fine. The only issue is that the exhaust pipe on the dynamo is broken off. An easy fix. Now I just need to get a sound decoder, re-letter for Canadian Pacific, and she'll be put to work.

Had some goodies come in the mail over the weekend.
    • ALCO RS3 (Bowser), customized for the C&O. Mostly w/ the gaudy C&O number boards on the corners. (Ordered through Tony's Trains)
    • Rail Scale Models Tobacco Barn kit that I will build for my brother's layout.
    • Rail Scale Models building flat to add to my City of Monterey backdrop
I ordered the Bowser without the factory decoder so I could drop a WOW Sound unit in it.

Just picked up 4 Bowser X31a off eBay unbuilt for less than $8 each ship and tax included. They’re in very good condition. Well bought I think.

    Great little project!

You need a Vulcan mind meld to shoo that kind of thoughts out of your noggin.;)

You'll do fine. Just have fun doing it.:)
