Kinda hard when I'm trying to live long and prosper

But the klingons are making things highly irrational

Me and wood kits don't do so well together see if I can find a tutorial so I don't ward the walls

I recently purchased a pair of SP Class B-69/70 Rapido Boxcars to expand my fleet of lumber haulers.

    Rick,

Those Rapido SP/SSW B=69/70 boxcars are really nice. Having grown up with the SP where I used to live in the 70's and 80's, these were a no brainer. So far I've added 8 to my fleet. They were mixed with the FMC double door boxcars.

Pick almost any build you can find on Jason Jensen's Youtube channel. He shows bracing and painting/staining techniques you should find useful. Just be careful as he is a master at making any structure look like it sits on the wrong side of the tracks.:cautious:

One Goat Two Goats, Red Goat Blue Goat-
I just picked up some Oxford HO vehicles.(Like I really need more) First are a pair of their '66 GTO's. I couldn't decide which color I liked best, so I got both.
    IMG_1823.JPG

Either should look good on that lonely stretch of two lane outside of town, maybe lining up against the same company's '68 Dodge Charger or the old Model Power '70 'Cuda. They'll be long gone by the time anyone calls the police...

I ran into the same problem with their '57 Olds 88 ragtops, again solving it by buying both. The colors scream "The Fifties".

    Olds Ragtops.JPG

Excuse the poor photography. I took them out on the blue styrofoam desert to pose them. Unfortunately, the present lighting in the train room leaves something to be desired.

From where? Have one of those adjustable font label machines but 'ell if I can't get the hang of it, just not the same!
Am waiting on 3mm round 24v white LEDs for 1/64 slot car, different style nylon guide pins, and am hoping this MPL QX2021 Rev.3 decoder chip will fit!

There was a swap meet in Saskatoon last weekend. I couldn't make it, but a buddy went and filled me in by text and photos. I scored a BLI Paragon 2 Mikado and a Spectrum Doodlebug. $260.00 ($192.00 U.S.) for the pair, both new in box.

Now I have another loco to re-letter to Canadian Pacific.

That's a good runner. I have one, a USRA Mikado lettered Grand Trunk (not Western) 3715, and it's a real beauty - a dead ringer for the prototype loco. Runs great on DC with the sound too.

    Nice catch.(y)

It's not a purchase, it was a gift last night. But I will need to assemble six flat cars from Tichy Train Group to be pulled by this, Rivarossi Heisler. It didn't cost $244 but only $85. Does the Analog Decoder need to be replaced with a Digital Decoder? Which one? There are instruction to disassemble and were it would go.

If you are going to run it on DC, you should be fine to run it as is. If you want to run it on DCC, you will need a digital decoder. It looks like you have the same amount of room as I have in my Bachmann Shays. I went with a SoundTraxx TSU-1100. That is what they list on their website for your Heisler as well. For a speaker they list one of the small cube speakers for your Heisler. They will mount in the tender and the speaker may have to go in the cab, I'm not certain. If you don't want sound any manufacturers small decoders such as the Digitrax DN136PS will fit.

Looks like some good catches. Love both the U.S.R.A. Mike and the Heisler.

    Thanks Jeff,
I think I will stay with DC for now. The woman in the next apartment didn't approve of the sounds the Bachmann saddle tank switcher made. The larger Bachmann 4-6-0 didn't work. Both are suppose to work on DCC as well as DC. But the lovely lady called the cops about the saddle tank. When the management lives right below her.
Right now I would like to find out the price on the none sound DigitraxDN136PS. I can get new books on DCC but where would I go for the that controller and maybe the SoundTraxx TSU-1100 if I wish. And then the tracks and how to lay it out.
I am holding back because of limitations on income and possibly more so. Now it's just this nice weather and limited transportation.
    Decisions, decisions!! :coffee:o_O

People can be unbelievably fussy and petty. Your neighbor lady could have had it so much worse. My uncle (engineer during the transition era) had a large library of steam sound LP's and would crank them up until the house shook, explaining "That's what it's like in the cab at track speed." See how you like that, ma'am.

    :ROFLMAO:

Or take those metal-on-metal high-pitched shrieking squealing noises coming from freight car wheels and crank that up. Or the rythmic banging from wheels with flat spots... :sneaky:

    RailMix,
The sound of that engine was very minimal compared to where we have to live. The street is a frontage road for US41. It was the middle of the day. Trucks and lunatics' fly by, trucks flying by well above speed limit and do you know what a "Jake Brake" sounds like? 6:00 AM Until 9:00 PM.:confused:
And the Boys in Blue ignore them. But listen to a cry baby.:cry:

This showed up from Germany yesterday. The Br.03 locomotive. THis is a Deutsche Bahn model that was based at Ulm, Baden-Württemberg. It was retired in 1972.

It has many sound functions, smoke, and a lot of light functions. Runs like a dream, better than my Br.95.
