Next we drove to DeBeque, CO and proceeded east of town on old U.S. 6. Here we see BNSF 7721 slowly cresting the top of the hill: The train has stopped and awaits the switch to be thrown: BNSF 7721 and train begin to move again: Ben
That caboose behind each unit you shot is an ex-Frisco- note how the cupola windos on the side are set apart. IIRC, it's used as a shoving platform when the local BNSF crew switches the Conoco gasoline tank far west of town. At least it was when I lived out there,,,,,,,,,
Northbound local led by a GP39E stops so the brakeman can throw the swith to let the local enter the yard. GP38-2 2320 with ex-ATSF diesel switching cars. Trio of ex-Santa Fes on point of an empty TXI rock train. Sure don't look like piggyback cars they were once moving......... SB TXI rock train, led by two of the numerous C44-9Ws and a new GEVO, entering Sherman Yard. Street in foreground is (no kidding) Frisco Drive- makes sense, since this IS ex-Frisco trackage.......
She is still acting as a shoving platform. They have been using the caboose with a SD60M for the last couple of months to move the tankers. Ben
Shot this on the KCS in Heavener, OK on April 5. It's an SD70ACe, one of two diesels acting as DPU power on the rear end of a SB coal train (TXUX on the hoppers, so it was going to Texas). Looks as nice as the two KCS "Big Aces" in RetroBelle colors I shot there on the same day.
Northbound empty rock train on the ex-Frisco Madill Sub, crossing over US 69/75 just north of the Red River in Oklahoma. Train is coming off the UP trackage & bridge over the Red.
Yeesh, that Super Fleet paint scheme faded all to heck! Too bad GEs painted in this scheme look that crummy after a while. Looks absolutely ghetto......:tb-ooh:
