Here is THERR RV at 8PM. No light coming in from the rear windows. This means I will finally be able to go out and play with trains at night
Ken and Rick.... No tearing it down...lol. I am nowhere near finished. Still have Lucky Penny Yard to finish. That should take a few more years....
George, T.H.E.R.R. is a phenomenal system. I believe this is the first time you've posted a photo of the overall system. I imagine I would be taken aback even more if I walked into T.H.E.R.V. in person for the first time....WOW!
Thnxs Hank.... It may not be all that purdy...but it works. From an operational standpoint for a one person layout it is good. The trackplan is simple yet functional. The 2 of us can run our trains at the same time. I can switch the yard while 2 trains are running on the main. Using an RV solved many a problem...the biggest being. If/when we move...I dont have to tear it down...lol.
Agree...suggest submitting this photo and another from the outside showing some of the RV and a bit of the layout through the entry door, with a simple description, to a few mags to judge interest before spending time writing an article, only to have it rejected. I've seen some in past years when MR sent someone to write articles and take photos. IIRC, some of Lou Sassi's articles about various folk's layouts were done this way.
Beats... Rin Tin Shedding It, like I've done. Add me to the I agrees. You thought this out well and I haven't forgotten how you arrived at this decision. Have fun...for me!
I MIGHT give it some thought. My modeling skills arent the best by a long shot. The concept and execution I am proud of though. Lucky Penny Yard works as planned. I'm running trains. If I have to move...just turn the key and drive it over to the new place and plug it in !! May be time to research N scale magazines. I have no clue who they are or who to contact. I dont read magazines. I read TB to get all my ideas...lol
Hey George can I have your autograph now before you become so famous that you don't have time for us riffraff. I can see the article title now. A model railroad that you can get into and take through the drive in window at Macky D's.
George, to my knowledge a mobile layout has never been done before. So I think it would be a winner with any large circulation magazine. Your Before & After photos would definitely get their attention. Send the photos to them, then let them do all the work, because they know what sells. Pardon my ignorance, but who's the lady who took over that N-Scale mag in Washington or Oregon? I'm sure she's looking for anything unique that would build readership and circulation.
...including these two photos. I would go into orbit if I were an editor of a struggling model rail mag.
You might be ahead of the game sending it to Walt Huston (editor) instead... walthuston@earthlink.net
