Temps are still down...only 65 degrees. Smokey in the developement here. The winds will pick up about noon. As soon as it heats up the smoke will rise and the fire will roar back to life. (n)

    Update...
Well...that didnt take long. The winds are already up to 18-20 MPH from the SW

The winds usually blow in from the SW. That carries it over our house and between Show Low and Lakeside. :cautious:

"The fire is now at 8000 acres, according to BIA officials. It has been classified as a Type 1 fire, indicating the highest risk." :censored:

They want to burn down the forests or so it appears.

George and David, wishing you the best.

Glad to hear you are all good and we can only hope the fire crews get a handle on it.

I am several miles north and west of the fire so the ranch is ok now. I am not too worried about the buildings since there is a 100 foot wide firebreak between the forest and the buildings. I am more concerned with the free range livestock.
The ranch hands are out taking care of the livestock, and I am looking at what we can do to help if it starts coming closer.

    Some good news......

6/16/16 2:45pm – The Cedar Creek Fire lines are holding. The wind was not as big of a problem as originally anticipated. Air assets will be continuing their response and attacks until 1900 tonight.

And? It's a new day and hopefully good news. So George and David, what's happening in your neck of the woods.

I know, the biggest wienie roast with smores for desert or one heck of a steak barbecue. I've seen firefighters on the line
hungry like no other, use a burning log to cook a meal. True.

    The best guys.

The fire is still several miles south of my property and not threatening. They think it is under control. All the ranch hands are former Navy, so they know how to fight fires. they have whetted the foliage near the buildings, and widened the fire break by an additional ten feet.

If the fire grows again and approaches the buildings, we will do our best to knock the crap out of it. I am actually in Phoenix right now headed up to the ranch in a few minutes to see what I can do to help.

The wives on the ranch have taken all the children to my house in Phoenix. A forest fire is no place for children. All the livestock were moved to a safer pasture, and the horses are getting trailered out to a friends ranch in Prescott.

I will be offline until this episode is over.

Cedar Creek Fire in Navajo County is currently at 9,200 acres. this includes burnout. There has been no containment at this time. The Type I Incident Management Team has taken over the fire as of last night.
