Thanks! I've been working on some more trees... Here are a few along river. I'll definitely be building more of these "trunk" trees!
A nice set of trees! I can't wait to get to the point where I'm doing scenery. I haven't even got the track down yet! lol
Thanks guys! Yeah John, it took me a year to get to the point where I could start scenery... but it's fun when you get there!
I guess I can afford to be a little more patient. After all, it's been years since I actually built a layout so I should enjoy the steps to get to the tree stage. lol
I was talking to Chuck at Feather River today and he reminded me that I should enjoy the journey. True that!
That is very true. I've been stale at the layout stage only because I want the journey to be with my sons. I'm waiting on my youngest to get another year older (he's 3 1/2 now). Here's the stage I've been sitting at since 2006, although I REALLY love the bridges and things so I'm considering breaking this down and building up the foam a bit more so I can have some more altitude for that stuff after seeing that awesome creek...
That's a nice little layout, Sheldon. What size is it? From the looks of the Kato turnout controllers, you're using Unitrack?
It's 24"X48", Yes, I moved to Kato Unitrack for many reasons. #1 being the fact that I'm not as good a modeler as 99% of you all and I needed something simple. I don't want to go off on a sidetrack on this awesome thread so maybe I'll start a new thread of my own... again. I would really like some opinions of the master modelers with it as well, so maybe I should start it now.
I'm going to be using UniTrack on my layout as well. I've found it to be a great system. Today, I let a train run around an oval for hours and it just ran and ran. It's nice to not have to worry if the train will derail if I go use the restroom! lol
Alrighty then! Things have been progressing on the door. First, about half of the track has been painted, ballasted and weathered. And the bridge is painted and glued on the layout.
And lastly for now, we received about a half inch of snow yesterday, which inspired me to sprinkle some fake snow temporarily on the layout for this shot. I could never get the lighting to work out perfectly and I forgot to add headlights in photoshop, but it works.
Agreed! Awesome photo. Needs 2 things: 1. Headlight(s), as already mentioned. 2. Snow plow on front of locomotive. Maybe with a little snow built up in front? Or even lightly coating locomotive also? Couple of ideas.
All good suggestions! I didn't think about snow on the plow, but I tried dusting snow on the loco. However, the WS snow was so coarse for N scale that it looked like it was covered in ice cubes!
Very nice! Have you considered using Baking Powder for future snow shots? It seems much finer than woodland scenic's and also seems to hold on well to the front/side of locomotives. http://i222.photobucket.com/albums/dd264/Guilford_Guy/Model%20Stuff/2007053020242311141-1.jpg http://i222.photobucket.com/albums/dd264/Guilford_Guy/Model%20Stuff/DSC07612_2-2.jpg Peace!
