Wow! Simply Wow! Love those trees! Congrats on the new addition to the fleet! I agree, a bit of fading will make it rock! 5 star rating from me for this thread! Keep the pics coming!
I think you have the early spring leaves done perfectly. I know that look well--it is when I know I will be going outside railfanning soon after the long winter. Jamie
The addition of a GP38 ftw! Interesting season choice, not many do it and uniqueness is great. That tree is really convincing. What camera do you use for these shots? My Powershot's macro function is terrible compared to yours. I gave you 5 stars too.
Thanks guys! I am using an Olympus SP-55OUZ. Its macro setting is quite nice and so is its depth of field, which is really useful.
Maybe some day when I'm feeling brave, I'll have to go up to the Feather River during the winter. However, I don't imagine that'd be anything near a winter in the Rockies. I've only been over the Sierras once during winter. Too many kookie people on their way to ski for me to do that again! lol
Hmmm.... Changes afoot! Originally I was planning to model both railroads/regions I love on this layout. C&O/N&W on one side of the backdrop and ATSF's Glorieta Subdivision on the other. But after some thought I've decided to not model the ATSF on the layout. It would just be to hard to realistically model both on such a small layout. So the new plan! Both sides of the backdrop will represent the area around Charlottesville VA. One side will be a predominantly scenic area while the other will be a city/town scene reminiscent of Charlottesville. This now allows me to model two seasons! A major waffling point for me. The scenic side,(the same side I have been working on, with the bridge) will be set in late summer. The Charlottesville side will be set in March. On to photos! I have converted the the scenic side back to summer scenery.
I am also completely rebuilding much of the side I've been working on. I jigsawed some plywood today and things are coming along! Drawing things out... Cut. The whole scene. the red tape signifies where the backdrop will be. Thanks for looking.
Not ALL of it, the bridge scene and the curve are still there. And I never really completed the rest... For me at least, the fun is in the building process. So I never feel sad ripping up old work because then I can build more!
Also, terrain building has begun. Here is the lattice made from strips of cardstock... I'll start work on the glueshell later tonight.
It's certainly clean enough to be! I need to weather that thing.:tb-rolleyes: Glueshell has commenced! First off, I discovered that I ran out of white glue. All I had was wood glue. I also experimented with using newspaper instead of paper or card stock. The wood glue worked just fine! The newspaper worked well too, if maybe a bit weaker than card stock. But this won't matter once plaster is applied. The dark brown areas are where structures will be...
