What kind of car do you want the TB forum car to be? After we decide what car type, then we can beat out the details of paint job, decals, manufacturer, etc. Vote for your favorite type!
Interesting vote so far.... Decals as well could be a neat addition to the Trainboard line of forum gear....
I echo Martyn's sentiments. I think that decals would be a lot less costly and a lot more interesting. It would be great to see just how many pieces across the world they would be applied to. Imagine going to a train show and spotting a boxcar with the TB logo on it! That definately would be a way to start a conversation! Russ
For a special run the idea of the open gon full of ties (Trainboards) seems apropriate; either that or a stock car. As much as I love tankers it just doesn't seem to fit. I like the decal idea very much. As an N scaler I supose I could use ho decals for things like an off line storage tank, or something. I would love to see a large scale done, so maybe it could be done with HO, or maybe access to a down load or something. In any case i would go for both if they are available.
It doesn't have to be! If ya'll want multi-scale offerings, sobeit. I am multiscalar as well, I model in Z in addition to N! Decals would be cool, and if the HO scalers and such want a forum product of their own, cool! I just started the topic in the N forum since the N scalers voiced their desire for a forum car or decals. I don't usually venture into the HO forums...
How about an official graphic that can be downloaded? That way, we N-scalers can get them printed in our scale, the HO people can do the same, and anyone who does O can hope that Paul makes one to let us all know how good one can look!
I made a TrainBoard.com graphic in Corel that I think looks pretty good... what format would be preferred for such a download? -Mike
If you can save it as a jpeg, if you dont have a site to upload the pic to you can email me support@railimages.com and I will upload the pic to this topic
I feel that if a particular car type can not be aggreed upon, then the decal option would be best. I think that a decal run in various scales would be considerably cheaper too. Just my .02 worth of input.
For those of you that do your own decals, here's an MS Word doc of the TrainBoard.com logo in vector art format so you can scale it to any size without losing resolution. If you use a high end graphics program you shoud be able to copy it from Word and paste it into your preferred grphx proggie. Right click this link and select "Save Target As": TrainBoard.doc Have Fun and be sure to post pics if you make something! -Mike
a few thoughts (1) decals would work for me too.... I'm thinking that gives everyone the best deal at the lowest cost (2) using decals would make for some excellent and interesting shots of cars/tanks/etc on everyone's layout (3) however, the idea of one or two custom painted & decal'd cars circulating (i.e. Atlas car concept) around to everyones layout is very exciting (minus the keeping 'track' of it issue) PLUS there only needs to be one (or two) cars made by someone who is really into authentic creations. The only cost that way is shipping...right? my 2 cents plus... this BBS could support a dedicated forum to just that
Paul, I like the idea of branding i.e. use the trainbaord.com logo on the top left of all pages... that's how I personally know of TB and would recognize it instantly on the side of anything my 2cents p.s. any way to get a "2 cents" graemlin? like 2 glod/yellow-ish coins overlapping p.p.s. sent you email on kinda-similar subject [ 01.
