Where is your wife going to "let" you hang that big print? I saw your den,not enough room there!
Unless you take down an aeroplane photo. [IMG] :D

Ron, Glad you asked. I hung it last night in the den, top row, above the Huckleberry and Stan Kistler's ATSF photos. I didn't think it would fit there, but it does and actually looks good, with as much space between it and the others as the rows below. I know this makes no sense to anyone else. I'll take a picture. It was about time I had a shot of the "home" road in a prominent spot, what with ATSF, Milwaukee, New Hope and Ivyton, Steamtown (CN and CP) and Nickel Plate there. I only wish we could see a NYC steamer run today. ;)

I got my NYCSHS "Central Headlight" second quarter 2001 (Yes, they are a little behind) and the case is now closed. Tom Gerbracht's article on later Mohawks, part 2, contains two photos taken in exactly the same spot as the one in question, and the buildings, etc. give it away as Peekskill. It was also taken in the 1940's. Anyone got another mystery photo?

The Hudson Division is/was 2 tracks between Peekskill and a point near Garrison. Tracks run along a rock shelf at the edge of the river that only accomodates two tracks. Also there are three short tunnels in the immediate area, one under the Bear Mountain Bridge. The second picture is of a southbound (eastward) train about to go under Bear Mtn. Br. The first picture is of a northbound (westward) train crossing the causeway above Peekskill. The oil tanks are still in use and are serviced by barge. The photographer may be standing on the unloading dock.
