The MoP local put it's caboose on the ground right at the crossing of the Sunset Route. The Argonaut headed into Houston has stopped and inched up to the problem to check it out. These N scale people are having a time figuring out what to do.
Okay, here is my WNFF for this weekend. All these new electrons should mean a lot of posts with no waiting. Russ has some really nice photos on Sugarland. They are really a fine set of modules. Some of my favorites for sure. For this weekend, here is the Greater Southwest Paint Company. This company produces regular types of paint and also special use paint products like the paint used to refurbish tank cars at the Texas Railcar Repair facility in San Antonio. Lots of toxic chemicals around here that require special handling. This is the siding serving the facility. The ACL car is custom painted. (I always like to keep the East Coast in the loop.) I don't weather the chemical hoppers as I think it would be necessary to clean them between assignments so there would not be any unwanted chemical reactions. This is an overall view. The cars in the background are Houston/El Paso staging. The building is a modified DPM kit. Next weekend is the weekend after Christmas. Should be lots of pictures that weekend!
Russell: Awesome picture. (Wasn't it published, or at least a similar one?) Flash: I like the yard behind the main shot. Thanks for sharing!
Thanks for your kind words. Gosh, you have a good memory. It was in Model Railroader Trackside Photos, December 1999. Yeah, it was a slightly different photo with all the people set up on the other side of the caboose in the sunshine where you could see what was going on. I only have one of the "Bracket" slide exposures of that shot and can't get it to look right when I scan it.
Great photos guys I'm at work for the next 10 hours so will post a couple on my return home as i need to upload off my home computer to rail images. Flash is spending 5 days here in Sydney from tuesday with some railfanning and a visit to Sydney N scale club. I just hope he has lots of memory for his camera
Hi Folks, With holiday related activities, I haven't gotten diddly done of late, so here are a couple of older/rerun shots: Happy Holidays!
This is the uranium processing plant from the old road. It was at the bottom of Hidden Valley--I scooped out a return loop rather than building a mountain. I haven't found a good place for this facility on the new road--it was built in place, and fit well, so the alternatives on the new road haven't been appealing.
Russell Great scene at the tower! Flash Nice shots of the paint plant area! Bob Great layout shots! Overshoe Great NS shots! Feel like you are there! Pete That is a great looking facility!
This locomotive just arrived on the property today. It is my latest Ebay find. The locomotive is an IHC 2-6-0 Camelback lettered for Lehigh Coal & Navigation Co.
Tom, I love the scenery, especially the long grass. But to British eyes a loco with the cab in the wrong place just looks strange (But I bet Darren would like it!)
Now we have something to look forward to after Christimas too. It is always a pleasure to see your photos. Now if I can ever make it to San Antonio when you are around, I can see it all in person. I heard a rumor that William Cowie will get to visit real soon.
Well, that type of loco was kind of rare in the parts of North America where I grew up too. However Tom's "Water Tower" photo diarama makes anything look good. Yeah Darren sure likes that East Coast stuff, especially if it has D&H on the side. If you painted Delaware & Hudson on the side of a very large cardboard box, he could be entertained for hours.
Howdy, here is my controbution. I had a CNW bay window caboose that I changed the old end rails and roof walk with the gold medal models kit. And I also weathered it with Bragdon weathering powders. Well that is it for me, adios Wyatt
First class on CityRail??? </font>[/QUOTE]You bet, First Class. SYD Terminal, Platform one on Wednesday. I should be there around 2:00 pm. Will call cell phone around noon.
