Howdy Trainboarders! In response to numerous requests, we've decided to continue the foto-fun thread we did on Sunday nights, with two major changes, both designed to reflect the structure and constituency of Trainboard: 1. We'll start it on Saturdays to allow our international brethren to post photos of their modeling efforts before their weekends end (seems like when we in the States have Sunday, the rest of the world has Monday ) 2. We also decided to invite modelers of all scales to share in photos what they've done the past week (or weekend). As some you know, I recently had a house move, so the layout was dismantled. Today saw the start of construction of the shelving that will eventually be part of the layout structure. No pictures, but I thought I'd recycle an old pic of two N scale Geeps I customized recently. The DRGW is custom painted from pics of the real thing. So... your turn!! Get out those cameras and show us what you've been up to!!
I'll add one of my favorites. The Red/White and Blue seems fitting on this 9/11 date. Glad to see this staying on Trainboard William!
Great to see this thread kept alive William. The thread modifications sound terrific. I had little train time this week, but I did manage an attempt at weathering this N scale potash hopper.
Glad to see a photo session. Yep, Russell Straw, that sure looks like Sugarland. Below is one of my West Texas creations. The background comes from the Davis Mountains just North of Alpine. Bryant http://www.railimages.com/gallery/Bryant-Mansfield
William, Thanks for starting the thread, just to clear a couple of issues we decided to start this topic but not in conflict with SNFF that has now moved back to Atlas N scale. This topic is not just for new work but for any modeller of any scale to post recent works or even there favorite model shots. Here are a couple I have just taken to post specifically for this topic. Hope you enjoy The first pic is a comparison of weathered SD50's and newly cleaned SD40 tunnel Motors Below are engines currently stored or undergoing servicing in the engine yard The second shot is a closeup of the four locomotives
Rock Springs just went to the Falmouth show, this UP (ex MKT) GP38 spent a lot of time as the Rock Springs switcher. Here's a portrait as an APL stacker roars past...
My first image post, my first N scale building. Still playing with the camera, so there should be some improvements in image quality over time.
I am trying to get more modelling done, but other stuff gets in the way. But I have recently finished building and painting some hot metal cars for my steelworks. There are six ladle cars and two spacer cars in all (HO). and With the weathering the trucks haven't come out as brown as I wanted, so I'll proably revisit them sometime (and those springs are at a strange angle ). I'd also like to do some work to add rusty patches as well as the general grime, but I need to practise that a bit.
Great shots guys I hope to receive some trackage items this week, so will soon be able to join in the fun! Mike, funny how the camera shows up things that were not noticed before!
Brett, that building's lookig pretty good! Mike, WOW! I think they look great, in the top-down shot they almost appear to be glowing red hot! Alan, tell me about it, i've just noticed one of the truck brakelines on the GP38 had flopped down when the photo was taken! Mike, Alan, I've just thought, we're up at Wakefield show in November (running 1950's-ish), if you guys fancy coming and having a play you'd be welcome, closer than Devon!
I had the pleasure Thursday night to see the UP 844, out of service for years, holding steam!! Sure, she's a 4-2-4 'Hawaiian' type, (jokingly named for the Hawiian crew that's doing the major work on her) and minus cab, boiler jacketing, among other things, it was still nice to see her in the light of day, rather than in the shop, with the only lights being an oxy-acetylene torch or MIG welder...
