Friday already. I am heading out of town so need to get this going I guess. Can't wait till I get back Sunday to see what goodies folks have posted. Continuing along with the oldies photos, here is the Imperial Cotton Gin.
Have a good weekend, Russ. I am adding these photos and will say that I don't know who made these O scale sheds. I thought they were great and I got the photos so I could use them as examples for shed details and such on my own layout. These are O scale models.
Russell Great looking industry! Flash Those sheds are great looking! I like the details around them and the weathering! Loco1999 Great looking locos!
Local NMRA meet was today at Gerry Hopkins GN Down Under and I had a recent project with me. Gerry let me take it for a drive and grab some photos. Since it was an open house, I was handholding with the ISO set to 1600 and in shutter priorty mode at 1/60th. This let me get the most depth of field possible. Here's my Atlas GP40 Soo Bandit (just like the prototype, it started as a Milwaukee Road) And and era approptiate photo of Gerry's layout [ April 16, 2005, 06:34 AM: Message edited by: yankinoz ]
Ah Gerry Hopkins a!How is he?Used to be a member of Sydney N many many years ago.Excellent modeler,is this his original HO GN layout Rob?
I think this is his first GN layout - he was doing Narrow Gauge prior to this layout. Be sure to check out his web site, very good stuff there.
Concur with Jason. A great looking layout and excellent SOO Line GP40. Also, the bridge detail is outstanding! On the outhouse, I have considered doing it in N scale. There is so much more detail possible in O scale. BTW, how about all those brightly colored barrels? Is that prototypical? Prototypical or not, it looks good. John W...excellent photo composition. Makes me think I am there.
Harold, that is true. My granddaddy had a farm in Battleboro near Rocky Mount, right on the ACL, near the new Wesleyan University. That was a cold, cold trip to use the bathroom in the winter time. That is why my mind will no longer allow me recognize snow as a physical possibility on the earth. Just too much trauma!!
I hear you. Actually, there are quite a few left in existence, from what I understand. Didn't Battleboro get "swallowed up" by Rocky Mount? Harold
Not quite yet, but almost. Battleboro is on highway 301 near Gold Rock. CoGentrix is the big industry out there. I have seen big CSX main line power switching the coal onto the siding. CoGentrix has it's own SW1500 or something for moving them around in the plant. Also, there is a very nice small feed operation that uses several covered hoppers each week. I need to post pictures on the Railfan forum. [ April 16, 2005, 08:39 PM: Message edited by: sapacif ]
I cracked up when I first saw that, but then when I noticed he even had a book in there with him I about fell out of my chair. Nelson
Today I weathered my two Life Like GP60's. First I used modelflex weather black on the bodies and heavier around the trucks and fuel tank. This paint would have to be the best paint to weather locos. I then used watered down burnt umber lightly on the trucks, body and fans. Here are the results, the first pic is before weathering in case you can't notice
Paul, try Modelflex Roof Brown some time. I'm a big fan if it - there's quite a bit on the front pilot of my GP40 earlier. Agreed on the weathered black - works really well on those Rio Grande locos... nice.
