Added some trees and more people to the "Christmas layout" on Thursday. Went to the LHS and they had a pink hat, so my wife had to get it, and my daughter loves it
VVayne, was that Reeds or Whistlestop? By the way, I mean to mention it in your planning thread, but It's nice to see another San Diegan. Whereabouts are you and of course, have you seen the model railroad museum?
Yoho, I'm out in Lakeside (about 15 miles east of town) off of HWY 67. Got the hat out in Poway at Rail Barron Hobby Co. They run a small steam train around the park across the street (the trolley was running yesterday steam is every other weekend) so we rode that too. Yes, been a few times and plan to go a couple of more before moving up to Washington at the start of next year.
Hello all, Been some time since I last posted but have been looking in from time to time. Always nice to see the usual superb work from you guys. Thought I might share a few photos. Hope you don't mind. Thanks for looking. Great work everyone.
I took Sweethome down to London for a model railway exhibition this weekend - had a great time and met some great folks. Jon
Just for Secret Weapon: I was pretty amazed at the sharpness of the cover. You can't get that here at 640 x 480. I'm setting up the new layout for a photo shoot starting Monday. I will help Jeanne in the yard for fall cleanup for an hour a day. In return, she will serve as my photo assistant for an hour a day. But, man, the nits on the layout are driving me crazy! It's a big layout, so there are lots of nits. Stuff like dust particles, or broken tree limbs. Every time I look through a viewfinder I see more and more to do.
Hey Pete, That is a fantastic shot  . You must be proud of the fact that its your layout that was chosen for the 1st all color format.I know I would be.:shade: Then again,I'd be thrilled just to get a picture into a mag.Again,Congrats.The layout looked great.
OK, this is one of my 5-minute spray-bomb backdrops. This is not a Helicon-enhanced image; it is just as it came off a cropped image of a 12 mm lens on a Nikon D70. Well, that's not exactly true. The foreground has been extended with Photoshop towards the bottom right. The sky was chosen by the magic wand in Photoshop--it's really just the bottom of the deck above. The magic wand created the little trees on the horizon. I'm kind of liking the effect. What do you think?

UPRR Club (Brisbane) Open House The UPRR Club in Brisbane, Australia had an Open House this weekend and I got to have another run on the fun little Threepiececreek layout. Here's a couple of shots of the action: Overall shot of the layout - 18" long with 3 mainline ovals with passing sidings out front - Some IM 5161's getting there first revenue run - Swift Roadrailers passing a vehicle train - Pacer cans in some new Kato Maxi-IV's - See my post in the Weekend Modelling thread for more details on the main power for the day - a nearly finished detailed CNW AC44 .... Had a great time running trains - thanks to Eddie and Merv again for the opportunity!
Hey Scott, Love the crew in the engine & the scenery looks great.I knew you'd like that rush hour line up,espeically since its all your handy work. :shade:
Pete Nolan: I really like that photo. Very nice. James Costello: Very nice club and nice layout. I like all the tracks that have a slight curve. It just seems more realistic or interesting than plain straight track. Brisbane? That's another place with perpetual summer? I need to be there!
Thanks Red Rock - the "prototype" model for a few more, making sure the technique worked well, which it has. Fading technique as per Gary Walton's article in RMJ a few years ago. 1 down, 9 to go. I'll add some APL ones when DeLuxe releases them. Flash, Brisbane is great....just ask all the guys in NSW and Vic who move up here ;-) Beautiful one day, Perfect the next ;-) The layout is great for shows - decent length trains and with 3 mainlines, passing sidings and a switch area, there's always something moving on the layout - which keeps peoples attention.
