Caught me late again. Oh, well. Lets make up for that with some good photos. Old photos for me to start. I'll add better ones later. Rolling stock in N scale: Old Roundhouse 5US$ kit US Army GP20 Old Bachmann U36B shell mated to an Atlas U25B. (Notice the Alco trucks.) The original B30-7 kitbash. This was a long time ago. Handmade handrails. I later changed the sideframes to GE. Texas Grain Company. Home made decals (inkjet). I'm still thinking about Candy Streeter's junk yard from last week. That was a good one!
I must say that is a fictitious industry on my layout. I made some for me and for Colonel back when he was in N scale and I was going to Sydney regularly. Those were some good days. I have some good Aussie friends from then and all because I met them on TrainBoard. I also made some United Grain Growers as that was an industry on his layout.
Both names are very plausible. I am actually surprised someone hasn't used them in the prototype world.
Wow, love that night shot. Here is a shot looking over the trees on my Richmond NTRAK modules. Sent from my DROID4 using Tapatalk 2
I've been missing for awhile from TB. I was out looking for a 'weedwacker' to take care of an overgrown siding. Jim
Flash, is the Army unit modelled after a specific one? I have to admit a little "hometown" like for it, and I remember making a couple like it (HO) for a friend way back. Challenging as I didn't have access to the Army decal set and the units he wanted were Ft Knox units, which were Paducah rebuilds. But the project was a load of fun!
As I remember, not modeled after exactly a specific engine. The number is correct for the series but it generally represents US Army GP20s.
Thanks Candy, your work is outstanding as well. Seems like no one really pays attention or gives a rip about this thread anymore. Considering the good work contributed by all the posters you would think folks would be more appreciative and forthcoming with their compliments or critiques. Jim
Excellent detail, Candy. I love the climbing rose bushes on the fence; the dead branch(s) on the tree and the flag that is extended in a breeze of about 20 MPH. Caption for the scene: Honestly officer ... SHE's the one who ate the last donut! ;o)
I saw on another forum a thread category called, Showing Off. It was with all the other main categories and it was very popular. Members would post pictures anytime they had something to show. I mean modeling...um...model railroading stuff:cute: I think if it were done here we'd see lots of pictures. I have used scenes I have seen here for scene ideas on my railroad. What do you all think?
Sounds good from here. Why don't you drop a note to Charlie, via the "Contact Us", or PM him (E-8), and offer this idea?
