:tb-shocked: You are telling me that is a model? I thought it was real!!!!!! :tb-shocked::tb-shocked::tb-shocked:
My project this last week was to retrofit an Athearn SDP40F chassis from the standard blue box drive to hex drive. It now sports a new motor and flywheels, screwdown motor mounts, hex shafts, delrin worms and nickel silver wheels. It now runs as quite and smooth as any of my Proto 2000 and Atlas locos. This is before the retrofit: And after the retrofit: The contact strip will be removed later when I install a DCC decoder.
Russell, if you had photoshopped a tiny bit of steam and smoke, just a hint of each, you'd have had me, hook, line, and sinker. Really nice image.
Thanks for the comments on last weeks photos:tb-smile: One more from my "photo session" which I found interesting. I like to use iso 50, F8 and adjust the exposure time to suit the available lighting. Last weeks photos were shot with, IIRC, a 2 sec. exposure(possibly longer). This photo was F8, 2 sec. Well, the camera moved a little during the exposure... the result is like something from a slow speed box camera taken in the '50s...
Thanks guys for the comments on my photo. It is one of those where I dragged my NTRAK modules outside to take advantage of natural lighting, sky and horizon. I also found a spot with real water to get the reflection of the tree under the bridge. Here is another shot with real water under a bridge.
Got on the backdrop painting bandwagon this week(end) 1/3 of the backdrops painted, 2/3's to go.... -Mike
Yes, that is a spectacular image...really nice. Very easy on the eyes. Here is my own contribution. Looking east from near the west end of Seneca Falls Sub.
A session of some little engineers on my modules last weekend Some pics Module-Gifhorn -2008.11.02 - 2 of them Tschuess Harald
I've been working on my CSX N scale North mountain subdivision side of my layout this week. I just completed this rocky cut tonight. It was made out of broken up rock castings blended together with plaster of paris. Then painted with diluted acrylics. And here is some track and ballast experiments. Ballast is Smith and Son Penn-Ohio blend #50 grade, I love this stuff! The track is Micro Engineering n scale code 55. Seems to be lady bug season eh? Thanks for looking.
Nice work on those backdrops Mike. What did you use for the backdrops and what color paint did you finally end up with? I'll be doing this in February when I start my new layout a 20x12' train room.
