Well I am back, sort of. Never made it home after vacation because of Hurricane Harvey and am staying with my daughter in San Antonio. Does that make me a refugee? The Brazos River near my house is cresting tomorrow at a new record level. It will be just a few feet below the deck of the old Southern Pacific (now UP) railroad bridge. So, with that in mind, here is my model of the bridge before it was rebuilt last year after the previous record flood in June of 2016. Related topic.
The TURTLE CREEK CENTRAL begins passenger service...in HO scale. The consist is a Baldwin 2-8-0, classed a C-48 by the TCC's parent company 819. Then we have two coaches, the KATIE JO, and the KALYSHA. A Diner, MOUNT LOAFER and then a PULLMAN SLEEPER, LAKE SCOFIELD and bringing up the markers, the BELMONT, a library observation.
Another "smoke and mirrors" photo, also in downtown Davidsville; the layout is 6" deep from the front of the restaurant to the wall, and 1-1/2" deep from the front of the bus depot. One more coming next week.... John
Finished a couple of Milwaukee Road cars this week. A few weeks ago I did a Milwaukee Road repaint of the 50' PS1 Boxcar with the Sliding Sill Underframe by Kadee, here is the same car in the 1962 as delivered paint scheme. Painted with Floquil MEC Harvest Yellow and Scalecoat II Black Paint, then decaled with Walther's Decals. Walthers 86' PS Hi-Cube Boxcar Kit, painted with Scalecoat II Reefer Yellow, Black and White Paints, Floquil Platinum Mist Paint then lettered with Herald King Decals. Car was one of 5 from Pullman Standard in the late 60's, their other 86' cars were from other builders. Thanks for looking! Rick Jesionowski
I wanted something that looked like the Rio Grande may have painted it. I used Tamiya CAMEL YELLOW and Testors Gloss Black. The thin pinstripe on the bottom of the car is from the Microscale UTAH RAILWAY SD40 decal sheet. I made the TURTLE CREEK CENTRAL letter boards decals, and lettered the car names by hand.
Astounding, the quantity and quality of what you so constantly complete. Remarkable skills. Not that I am a MILW fan...
Hello everyone! I'm finally back in he saddle! I got started on bench work for my second attempt at modeling the Alaska railroad. I also bought two McKinley Explorer passenger cars Hope everyone has a fun safe holiday weekend! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
It really shows, Candy! On my layout, the closer the building is to the viewer the more detailed the interior is. The further back, "good enough" (oftentimes just a curved photo, with people/furnishings/equipment in front to create dimensional depth) usually suffices. John
I'd love to see some detail closeup shots of these scenes to better understand the magic you use. Outstanding!
