I'm beginning to really like this thread. I hope this becomes as popular as SNFF. Flash, I love the weathering on your covered hoppers it's fabulous! Subtle and realistic! Great Job!
Thanks Mike, hows it going, the BAR had a bunch of them, ex Army troop sleepers converted to buggies. Got to bash two more sometime. John
I'm still impressed by the rollby work from last week (Tompm - loved that LNE coal train), but this week's edition might be even better. Nice work, guys! Here is my contribution - an N&W freight rolling through Scioto Springs, OH after setting out a few cars for the DT&I. (to be continued in the next post - just learned about the max images per post thing) -Jeff
continuing that N&W freight... That is freshly ballasted unitrack - seeing my un-ballasted stuff close-up in photos so much made me curious about what it would look like if I bit the bullet and did that chore. It won't be too bad on the easy-to-access front of the layout, but there could be some tricky reaches on the back. I hope I can get the good-looking results that others of you who have ballasted unitrack have achieved. It seems like patience will be the most important tool to have for the job. -Jeff [ February 05, 2006, 11:09 PM: Message edited by: shay6 ]
Wolfgang, fitting way to start the thread. That is a really cool group of cars there. Carl, Those Apache cars have inspired me, almost didn't recognize the first one. This is the new rail fanning spot I've reconstructed in the Winter Weather Layout Workout thread. New terain and freshly balasted mainline. This is it's first roll by.
It wasn't intentioal that all my woodchip hoppers are assorted blues. I need to add a little color variety in there I think.
John, Subtle with the truck. Of course, now that you have started this, you have set our expectations.

Tompm, your weathering looks so real! I haven't seen so many dirty old cars since I came back from the freight yard down town! Great job!
