I dislike all boxy ugly looking EMD and GE diesels. :tb-mad: Especially GP and U-boats. People who designed them had very bad taste. Just compare them to Sharks, E, F or PA units.....
I still maintain that in the realm of steam locomotives, Polish steamers lead the pack. On my list of ugly diesels (updated sine my last posting): Baldwin "Centipede" Baldwin'w early switcher models (before the VO series) GM's "Aerotrain" (my top runner for Cheesiest Looking Trainset Of All Time) EMD NW5 GE C39-8 GE U30CG Baldwin Double-ended cab unit Baldwin center-cab transfer unit (the one EJ&E had) Anything in SPSF colors Anything in Pan-Am blue & black SD70ACe Alco-s HH-series switchers SD90s and SD9043s
#10 - You put GP10's???? I am saddened!!! Beauty is truly in the eye of the beholder I suppose. Plus part of the charm of the GP10s was the sound! Great stack talk from those units! I would recommend "green goats" as a worthy substitute to GP10s on your original list Chad
The Paducah Geeps with "frog-eye" nose headlights look a bit freaky, but otherwise I can deal with chopnosed Geeps.
I grew up watching 6 of those little engines pulling coal trains along Dixie Highway. They are now among my favorites.
You're thinking SLSF (which it would be pretty funny to think he hates). He's saying he hates KodaChrome. Southern Pacific & Santa Fe colors.
Man, I just love my BL-2s - I have three of them! (This shot is from a previous layout, now dismantled...)
