Got mine as well. Coupler on one end was already exploded as well. I'll get around to fixing or replacing it someday. For now, it went back in the case.
Contacted Micro Trains about the broken couplers on mine. Will see what they say, or do hopefully Monday. Could this be run by itself in a train, or would I be better to add a couple of cabooses on either end, as guard protection?? Looking to see how I could make it more interesting during show or two maybe!
That Mystery Box from Rapido seemed like a really good deal! It was tempting. Fortunately for my bank balance, they are showing as sold out...
Just received text from Supervisor. After torturing me over NASCAR results today, I have been "ordered" to bring "Balloon Car" to work tomorrow. EVERYONE at WeatherTech wants to see this thing, including the owner !!! Maybe I'll be off the 700 degree thermo-formers !!! Ha,ha,ha !!!
Also requested parts to fix couplers. This car is too fragile and obviously not packaged correctly to travel from OR to IL 3 times !!!
I think this is a great way to introduce more potential newcomers to model railroading... however whimsically...
I’ve got a balloon car coming as well. Catching up from the last couple of weeks-got some good deals on eBay on some nuComp mobile homes and some Fox Valley GEVOs. Very excited to get my hands on the undecorated one-going to be wearing some Wisconsin Central maroon and yellow someday! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Not exactly a purchase but I didn't want to created a new thread just for one picture. Unfortunately I did not take my usual plethora of photos this year. This is the only one I took. Many same modules that I had shot previously or elsewhere (like Amherst). It would just clog up my hard drive. I'm holding out for Altoona and I will have more time there to shoot. Hopefully some newer stuff.
Very Nice MK! The stars aligned some years ago and I was able to attend this gathering. Glad to see it's still happening! Maybe Altoona this year...
My balloon car just made it in and with intact couplers. I thought I was going to do some gang painting with this and the houseboat kit in the background but the parts were ready to go so I did a quick assembly and voila!
Meanwhile, from the early history of Kadee Micro-Trains, here's one of the harder to find of the "Class of '72" -- the first freight car releases. I've been casually looking for this one for a reasonable price for a while. There was no extra charge for the dust but it cleaned up nicely.
Also requested trucks, since I had a broken one upon arrival. Parts should be on the way and arriving before too long. Gotta find a sharp X-acto knife and new blades yet, before I try to start assembling my car. Might give satellite array a quick shot of silver paint, after assembly. Dang it, now I gotta see if I can find my DRGW troop cars! Thanks for the idea though!!
I recently purchased the last 2 buildings and bags of iron ore, coal and limestone so I can complete my steel mill. The only things left to do when they ar completed and in place will be to scenic the mill.
Replacement couplers arrived today. To replace the damaged one on my mystery balloon car. Now to find an X-acto knife, and extra blade(s) so I can start carefully removing the satellite array from it's multiple sprues!
Also received "balloon car" couplers. Can't believe contacted M/T and received parts from OR to IL in less than 48 hrs !!! Did bring the car to work, people LOVED it !!!
