You guys know me by now. NOthing comes without a story. Two years ago, I sold off my new PRR ConCor 2-10-2 to pay towards my son's last semester of college. No regrets at all, but I have missed that loco and now living on a fixed income, can hardly pay for the ebay prices they get even today for this somewhat rare dc loco.

While browsing the auction, all of a sudden one night a listing comes up for a brand new ConCor 2-10-2 for $99 Buy It Now. I spring for it despite it being in Taiwan, halfway across the earth with a long delivery. Hell, I waited this long, I will wait a little more.

It arrived today and it was brand new!!!! Ran like a clock and pulled a ton. Then went on to provide positive feedback and another one gets listed by the same seller, and since I had a windfall, I sprung for the second one. It is so much fun breaking this one in.

It gave me the thought that patience is the rule of N scale. If you are persistent and wait long enough, that piece you have been looking for will arrive at the price you can afford to pay. :teeth:

Just picked up an Atlas Dash-8-40BW (BNSF WarBonnet) with Digitrax decoder (ran about 30 minutes) for $45.00 on the auction site - Buy it Now. I model mid 1950s to mid-1960s, GN, NP and SP&S, but at that price I can afford to add a descendant of those roads! Now, for a pumpkin scheme (H2).....

Turns out that finding the cartridges for the MSA respirator that came with my Iwata was a lot harder than I expected and I decided to buy a 3m 6000 series respirator and P100 filters so that I can start airbrushing before it gets too cold outside.

Just received an Atlas Dash-8-40BW, factory decoder, in BNSF Heritage II scheme to go with the Warbonnet version mentioned above. Runs great and very impressed with the Western Depot.

5 9g servos. I've been working on a servo controlling system based off of the 555/556 timer IC and I'm now getting to the point where it's time to see if I have learned enough to implement a yard ladder system.

Went to a Railroadiana Show yesterday (It was advertised as a "Train Show" !!!). Some cool stuff, but the best thing was a DVD I had heard about a couple years ago. It's a five disc series of someone that had attached a camera to a high-rail truck in 1972 and filmed the entire mainline of the EJ&E. Last night I "rode" from Griffith, IN to Porter, IN, then back again. It was just cool seeing where the tracks go. The vehicles seen were INCREDIBLE !!! TONS of Impalas and Galaxies !!! Even had a VERY close encounter with a Studebaker Hawk at one crossing !!! Film has no sound, so I can watch it while GF is snoozin'. There is a sample of this if you "Google" EJ&E Archives. Not sure if this actually belongs here, but since this is where I "live", this is where I put it !!! The Head Monkeys may bump it elsewhere. OK, tonight I "ride" from Griffith to South Chicago !!!

I grew up hunting along the EJ&E around Wayne/now Bartlett, IL. I actually have wild thoughts of oNe-Trak modeling the steep/sharp interchange with the ICG there. Color me intrigued.

To be on topic, the last thing I bought was a HO L&N boxcar kit as a souvenir from a LHS while vacationing in Nashville, TN last week.

I bought a couple Milwaukee SD40-2s at the local train show last weekend, along with this rather unusual boxcar that nobody seems to know the make of. I couldn't even find a listing on Spookshow:

Does it look like it was built from a kit? If so, I remember seeing an All-Door Boxcar kit at Caboose Hobbies 20 years ago. I can't remember the manufacturer but would probably recognize it if I saw it!

There was a 55' All-Door Weyerhauser Box Car listed on Spookshow as being a kit by Quality Craft / Gloor Craft, but this doesn't appear to be quite the same. I would guess that it's not over fifty feet long, and it didn't appear to be a kit.
