Anything with STEAM on the front end. Whether it is #765 pulling a passenger excursion, the Shays at CASS going up to Bald Knob, #152 at the KY Railroad Museam, or the #61O at the Tennesse Railroad Museam. Diesels are okay, but to me a steam engine is a living thing. I guess I am still in mourning over the death of SOUTHERN'S Steam Excursion Department.
On my layout Steam still rules, and you can almost smell the smoke and steam.

Considering I have the equipment, but not the track to run trains, I would have to guess mine would be Intermodal. I can just picture 3-4 Warbonnet, Pumpkin or H2 Dash-9's with 20-25 cars. Almost makes me want to rush and get started before I get a track plan done!!!!!!

Well, I like Intermodal, and mixed freight. And here on the NBRR, we ALWAYS have a caboose on the end, even on Double Stacks ! [IMG]

My layout is completely free lance and I run all mixed trains, both diesel and steam

you want variety in a unit coal train? Look at some of the Chessie and N&W coal trains of the 70 and 80 even early 90s. Big cars, Small cars, old cars, new cars Coal trais were interesting to watch.

I'd have to go with a manifest freight with mixed 4- and 6-axle power, or a branchline grain with Geeps in charge - preferably GP7/9/20's in all configurations. [IMG]

I'm a bad rivet counter, a terrible modeller, lousy at layout's and it all came from a couple of model railroader that said "it's your layout, enjoy it and do what you want." I took them to heart [IMG] and went crazy. Love the TGV, the Eurostar especially when it's passing the SF or the Northern Pacific. [IMG] with the Germain Railbus in the station waiting for the crew so it can go to the maintenance yard. that is going to work the Penn or the NYC along with the Lackawanna.

I just love all those trains and didn't see why I should be deprived of running them just because one is European and the other USA.

Nothing wrong with that Alan, as long as you're having fun, that's all that matters! [IMG]
