Well I'm working on a BNSF chopped, and shopped GP9, and BNSF #1700 GP9 B unit. The B is easy, cutting up the Atlas GP on the other was a little fun  stole a cab from a Kato 2nd gen unit, and load it up with details from Sunrise. Got all the cutting done, maybe I'll post pics when done. I think I have been given the green light from my headquaters (Wife) to start with my layout [IMG]

My number 2 son (the 11-year-old at home) is named Matthew Kyle Thompson- his initials are (yep, you guessed it) MKT! :D And to top THAT off, there's a railroad in northwestern Kansas named the Kyle. He had a hard time believing THAT one until I showed him my Kyle GP9 and GP40, plus some shots of the real thing.

I have very little spare time right now, but my layout is in the throes of a major rebuild, although the main scenic areas will remain, if enlarged.

Most of the work is to get rid of a duck-under over the entrance door, and the hidden staging yard and associated tracks, which have caused problems more than once

The layout should be much better to operate when finished, and will have more industries, hence more switching, and running of locals, which I enjoy most.

Photos of the altered bits soon.

My latest completed project is of a fantasy BN SD80MAC in whiteface with white separator stripe. Pics to follow soon! [IMG] It really came out nice, with the exception of trying to use Craig's EMD cab sunshades, in the process of re-installing the pain-in-the-butt cab glass, one broke off...... So both had to shaved away, as no glue job would look ok enuff to pass inspection. I hate when that happens! [IMG]

I just started my latest project. I'm turning another Bachmann 2-8-0 into a ATSF 2507 class 2-8-0. This time I plan on adding more detail than the first one I did and this is also the model I used the Kato mike tender on. I will post photo's when I can, right now I working on the ATSF style numberboards and the oil bunker. [IMG]

There are too many projects going on. The big one is getting ready for my wedding in August. Have to get the layout room cleaned up and the rest of the house for that matter. [IMG]
On the train side, I have been decaling a bunch of containers. Have 3 Deluxe unit stack cars that need to be filled up. About 3/4 done. Only 8 more containers to go. [IMG] Maybe I'll get them done before all the family starts to roll in. :D

I'm currenly painting Lehigh Valley RS 2/3s (Kato) and GP 38s (Atlas) in the Tuscan and late Cornell Red schemes. I've already finished painting the Geeps, I only have to decal the last one. I have three RS 2/3s left, one of which will be the 'one of a kind' wide yellow band scheme (#216). Whew...better get to work!

Besides giving some much needed attention to a layout I have neglected for a few years, my next project, though still in the "staring at" stage, is/will be to convert a Fleischmann 4-6-0 to a North Americanized ten-wheeler. No particular prototype in mind, just one that looks "good enough" to me. Then, there's that Peco "Jubilee" I haven't used in years.......

I am painting up a steamer and a PA-PB diesel, some passenger cars and some rolling stock in my Shenango Valley Railroad Livery. The motif is dark scarlet bodies, with semi-flat/gloss black roofs, trucks, lower trim areas and fronts and rears.

Lettering on the locos and passengers will be gold SVRR, and yellow on freight cars. Right now the only rolling stock to get painted are boxes and cabooses.

Dang SSWJIM, you do nice work! [IMG] I'm still afraid to weather my diesels. They look great all shiny but as you know SP was notorious for dirty locos! One day that will be my main project. I'll buy a couple of Bachmann's to practice on! :D

Right now I'm trying to get a layout designed. Thanks to the input from you guys I've got a modular layout in the works. I know how many modules I can have and the arrangement of them but I'm still working on a track plan. Pray59 gave me some great ideas and I should be cutting blueboard in a few weeks! [IMG] [IMG] RightTrack Freeware was the best investment I've made in a long time! :D

The 8002 pix are uploaded to webshots, in the custom paint folder. Check 'em out, and tell me what you think of my first 'prototypical' paint job! [IMG] [IMG]

    Turnouts! Turnouts! Turnouts!

I've entered the relm of scratchbuilding nscale turnouts! I've already completed one prototype code 55 #11 and now, with a refined process, will build another one along with a code 55 #9, a code 40 #11, and 2 curved code 55 turnouts; the first having a 15" inside radius/ 18" outside radius, and the second having a 18" inside radius/ 22" outside radius.

    I'll keep you guys updated...

This is an on going project. Still needs the cab curtains and I may someday shortin the drawbar so the tender is closer to the locomotive. Its a 1994 Hallmark model. [IMG]

I've always wanted signals that were true PRR. Found them at ALKEM SCALE MODELS. I got six single track and two four track main signal bridges. I've finished three single track signals and install mini leds in one of them. Plan to add led lights to all in time. ALKEM hasn't released the lights as yet? The four track signals will be a task!
Also finished added smoke deflectors to my remodeled PRR S2 turbine.
