Got to watch out for the Natives. Don't be afraid to take a chance at I.D'ing the location. We still have two shots no one has ventured a guess at. Jim gave us a hint "You don't want to mess with ______". Also, feel free to jump in and take a stab at any future shots or pic's. There's no shame in taking a guess and being wrong. Not in the name of fun and a good laugh at ourselves.
Here is a lash-up of two Amtrak locomotives with a consist of passenger cars in tow. Originally, I was going to say Jim, doesn't typically get this far west. Then I noticed the snow on the ground. This can't be the Coast Daylight (that takes me back a ways) correction Coast Starlight... or is it? Where is it? Where is Jim157 - RailImages.com
Jim, There your pictures you can take a guess anytime. As a matter of fact I was going to ask you...where is it? You are going to promise...what? No promises, nope. No more pictures out the window, while driving? I won't tell if you don't. LOL. Heck, that would end the show. Grin!
Don't stop taking and posting the pictures. The concept is most enjoyable and certainly the pictures are great. For myself, I will have no clue where any of these pictures are taken unless the the name is on the town water tower in the background. This is much harder than the Google Earth contest (or what ever it was called).
One more shot of a Amtrak I don't think it was our intention to make this hard or difficult. It does kind of come with the territory. If you find the level of difficulty high...well... you aren't alone. This may be the same train...? Maybe not, look at the locomotives on the front end and the first passenger car behind the baggage car. Do you see it? Yep, I thought you would. Where is Jim157 - RailImages.com Is it the Coast Starlight or the California Zephyr? Nothing like multiple choice...eh? But where is it? I have to be honest this one has me stumped.baffled:
The key 2 this pic is the trains name Coast Starlight around Wizard Island but not on that lake. I will keep taking the pictures as long as there is interest. 2 Different pics but the same place, the tree is the key, and the bug splatters.
Somewhere between Insectville and Squeegee City? By the look of that windshield, you've deprived some critter of a few dinners. Boxcab E50
This one looks to be on US287 between Wichita Falls and Estelline, TX, perhaps around Childress. Track is former FW&D between Texline & Ft. Worth.
I was waitn on the texas guys to fuigure out i was along the 287 thats the place. That is 1 busy rail line out there, alot of BNSF action 2 look at. Waiting 2 get the next load tomorrow so nuting today but something from yesterday to ponder. The bugs are not that bad its the birds that really make a mess.
At first glance I would say Ft. Worth, on I-820. But for some reason, I want to say Amarillo- not sure why.
either u hangout down in Amarillio 2 much at the big texan or u know your places. Caught that off of I-40 going east towards the 278 back up through there tomorrow and off to another town then home. Will find a picture that will stump u yet from Texas or better yet Oklahoma. I want to see someone try 2 eat that 72 oz steak and all trimmings 2 see if it can be done, sounds like a belly ache for me.
I knew we had some die hard Rail Fans out there in the BIG state of Texas. What do we have here? It was a lot cooler when Jim took this picture. There is more then one hint in the picture itself. Where is Jim157 - RailImages.com
For our CSX rail fans. Keith, right on. By the way Keith do they still have the shay? Time for another travelogue shot from Jim. This time for those die hard CSX rail fans. Jim, will need to call this one. Stumped in Big Bear. I'm guessing somewhere in Indiana. Where is Jim157 - RailImages.com
Sadly the loop is long running the Shay engines; but, you can find some of the equipment from that era at the Colorado Railroad Museum.
No, all former Ashby owned equipment at Georgetown now resides at the Colorado Railroad Museum. All because of a major conflict between the Ashby Family and the Colorado Historical Society. As I understand, the Loop is now run by an Eastern owner, with former Hawaiin motive power, that can barely pull itself up the 4% grade, much less with anything more than a couple of cars! This is MY understanding, and I welcome any additional information and/or corrections!!
Gosh, she is a beaut (new word meaning rugged, slow, strong, ugly and beautiful all at the same time). A beaut of a stove. How sad to think it is no more. I had the privilege of hosting a group of Boy Scout and Girl Scout types along with Staff Members on a George Town Loop... train ride. Behind a Shay!!!!! After the experience everyone chided me that at least, I had a good time. My wide mouth grin must have given me away. I did!! I think it was the same Shay pictured here. What? I should of taken them on a jet fighter ride? Oh, wouldn't that be fun!

Jim's Hints I just heard from Jim. Here are two hints. Think, Land Of Lincoln and what is the traditional drink on a wedding night?
