It's not a Cowboy mindset Rob, the reason is, that more Rolling Stock is available in UP, SP, BNSF and Santa Fe. BTW some my friends model PRR.
Acually the reason i choosed SP was acually because it was the easyest roadname to repaint. And when i started to look more closely on the SP history, it becomed interesting.
My Roots are in Germany My roots are in Germany. Does that count? :teeth: I model the ATSF/BNSF but also like the D&RGW, SP, UP, and the one I saw most as a child, the Cotton Belt. All Western roads! Trains are Cool! Hobo Tim
That only makes sense. The Santa Fe cab unit diesel has to be about the most recognizable scale locomotive in U.S. History, thanks to Lionel. The UP and the Pennsy have also always been well represented, as well. Over the past 75 years, these three roads have made up a very high pecentage of model railroad equipment. Dan S.
Sorry, should have been more specific, I meant the original twin stacks: http://www.hobbylinc.com/htm/alp/alp27103.htm
Steve, you should really join our chat sessions. If this venture is sucessful, then we can expect different intermodal cars from Tim. If my car is a example of thing to come, then I cant wait for the next release. This is my Thrall, and It looks great. Somehow it looks better in person.
John, The container looks real good.... I was looking for some containers on the net and here is what I found. http://www.matts-place.com/intermodal/part1/sea_containers1.htm Kim
Thanks Kim. I used to have that link, but I lost it. I have it in my bookmark again. I am thinking of getting some MMM containers, but I hate to paint them. I need more coats of acrylic paints to get the job done. Then there is the clean up of the wax, but they do have all the different size containers I want.
Tim, You know I want at least one of these sets, and if you decide to paint some in Pacer Stacktrain, I'll take a few more....... These look sweet!
Can't Do! Bryan, Pacer Stacktrain does have Thrall's in their service. Unfortunately it is not the 3 or 4 Drawbar unit Thrall's. Pacer utilizes the 40', 48' and 53' articulating Thrall's and 48' and 53' articulating Gunderson's. As much as I would love to own a 100 car train of Pacer Stacktrain with containers, it will not happen anytime soon! Hobo Tim p.s. You can always strip the Drawbars and re-paint them! :shade:
Do I remember correctly that Pacer has some single Thrall's? How about some singles in that pretty blue?? Or why not do five-unit sets?? Why stop with drawbars? Do articulateds too!! We don't ask for much, do we? You know I'm just razzing you.... ...I'd love to see Pacer, but you're the manufacturer, and you know what you can do and what will sell. Just trying to give a slight nudge in a Pacer direction..... :giggle7yc:
I think Tim had the 5 unit articulateds on his poll question over on Z_Intermodal. Did you guys take the poll yet? He listed about 10 possible projects that he is trying to prioritize. Randy
Hmmmmmm Perhaps not all possible projects, just trying to see what is preferred in Z as opposed to what is prototypical in the real world. ---------------- Z Scale Members: If you own any of MTL's Gunderson Husky's or Freudenreich Feinwerktechnik's Gunderson Husky's or Maxi III's, please join the Yahoo Z scale group specifically for Intermodal Z scale operations! Lots of Intermodal Info and photos. http://groups.yahoo.com/group/Z_Intermodal ---------------- What makes the 3/4 Drawbar unit Thrall's a possibility is that they are made from Thrall Stand Alone well cars. The only thing that is different is the middle well car "C" does not have a brakewheel/stand. Articulating Thralls would need different etched brass design. A possible future project! ***** Please, if you are a member of the Z_Intermodal Yahoo group, please take the Poll if you haven't already done so! Thanks Ok, what next! :teeth: Hobo Tim
I am now part of the exclusive club of TNT'z / ZTrack Thrall IM Owners! As soon as I get my image editing software back up and running under Vista (d'oh!) I'll post a pic or two of my new units - these are awesome!!! The detail is amazing and the quality is excellent. I showed one to some of my NScaler friends and they were blown away. Well done Tim! Thanks to Tim and Rob for making these cars available.
Graves, welcome to the TNT/Ztrack club. Did you order the three car drawbar unit. Tim is going to make it one time only, so don't be left out. I got mine. Also, let me know what you think of Vista. I have the software, but I am waiting to see if there are any bugs. You know how Juergs boss operates He is waiting for us to debug it for him. Dont take too long in posting the pictures.
Thanks! I placed my order on here as soon as they were announced and Rob confirmed it so I am eagerly, but patiently, awaiting their release. O/T... As far as Vista, I am very satisfied with it. The one exception being a few software applications that apparently are "not" Vista compliant, despite saying they are. In my case, neither (Corel) Paint Shop Pro X or XI and Ulead PhotoImpact12 work reliably under Vista. I'm sure there are hundreds, if not thousands, who would argue that they do work, but they aren't working on my PC. One recommendation is to get at least Vista Business. I know a few people with Vista Home and Home Premium and there seem to be some important administrative tools that are either missing or hidden so well you can't find them. It has been frustrating helping them out when you can't find what you are looking for. Biggest recommendation - always install software using the 'Run as administrator' option. Many applications will not register correctly if you just 'Run' the setup app. For what it's worth...
