Once I get the middle penisula formed completely, I'll let it dry, and then the rest of the scene will get sprayed green, and the planting will begain.
I have appreciated your work since the first time you shared with us here on line. Pinole is almost.... the forgotten spot for Santa Fe. From the "For what it's worth department": My grandad first signed on with Santa Fe at Richmond, CA.. His first assignments include fireman for Santa Fe steam engines along this route. In a short period of time he would make engineer and made many a pull as the hog head or hogger through Pinole. He took a position out of Bakersfield, Ca., working the Techachapi Pass. His final move before retireing was to Barstow, Ca.. From Barstow he did several stints one out of Seligman in helper service and another on the Parker Local. Retireing after working the Boron or Edwards turn. Good to see Pinole, Ca., fully in your spotlight.
Alright, I think I am happy with the way these rocks look. Highlighted with some Black, and tomorrow I will seal it up. the 'white' areas will be filled with foliage.
Re: sp4009's post of http://www.snowcrest.net/photobob/km44.html Man, the paint isn't even dry yet and Mike Danneman is running on Jerry's layout already.
Great thread Jerry, really enjoy your work/fun. Still a way to go but already I am impressed by the way you have captured the look and feel of a living landscape.
That is too cool Joe! I sure am glad they took those poles down...that would have been a nightmare! LOL When was that taken??? Late 60's, early 70's???
The entire SP main is completed and feeders dropped. I have not hooked the feeders to a main wire yet, but have run trains on the whole run with just one set of wires hooked to the tracks. The hidden Ozal yard is started, but I cannot complete it until I get the backdrop up as I need to access both sides right now. When that is done, Ozal Yard will curve around behind the backdrop and tie back into the smaller dogbone loop. The SP line will really be a continuous loop. I'll be able to just let a train go and not worry about it. For some sort of operating, three hidden SP trains can be staged at Ozal Yard and rotated out, and the line closest to the hills can be used as a large holding track too.
What has been done in only eight days is amazing! I have to check back more often else the layout is used up and dismantled. Ben
