Funny. I've lived in wny most of my life, but first thing that "crazy eddie" comment brought to mind was an old Niven-Pournell novel. Anybody else...?

When I think of "crazy" in business, I think of Dick Balch Chevrolet, which was in Federal Way, Washington. (About half way between Seattle and Tacoma.) His TV commercials were nutz. He would take a sledge hammer to brand new vehicles. He was a really way out there party animal.

Used to know a parts man who worked at Glen Grant. Really knew his stuff.

Picture shows a set of six of these illustriously rare RD cars and engine.
    But, read on!
"THIS AUCTION IS FOR 1 TRAIN CAR ONLY AND NOT ALL 6 IN THE PHOTOS. FOR SALE IS A Bachman N Scale TRAIN (APPROX. 4 INCHES LONG) Southern Pacific LOG CAROnly ~ NEW WITH BOX"
And now it's a 4-wheeled Botchman, no less. How hard it is to take one photo of one car and list it?
    Opinion.

Must be a very strenuous task. A starting bid of one cent might get some action.

Yeah, those things are like herpes when doing a Southern Pacific search.

    Well, this is different...

    http://www.ebay.com/itm/SPECTRUM-CS...528?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1a027bd4c8

"Part of a live auction event on Monday, July 20".

Lots of terms and conditions... and a 20% buyers premium. Have to go through a different website in order to sign up and bid. Etc. etc.

Seller has a feedback rating of 11. That's fine if you're Nigel Tunfel (cf Spinal Tap), not so good if you're an auction house looking for big money for small trains plus a 20% uplift...

Inconvenient at best. Plus, "REAR WHEELS ARE NOT IN PLACE". This sounds like a damaged item. Whoever it is has only been registered two months, so may not have a good feel for that site.

"Please note that as the value of the package goes up shipping charges go higher as well". So the shipping has nothing to do with the cost of the postage, it's based on the final value of the auction. ...I don't think I'll be placing a bid.

I can see the insurance going up, to cover a higher value. But when stated purely as "shipping", it doesn't sound right.

    Regarding this post on E-bay..........http://www.ebay.com/itm/southern-pa...384?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item1ea168e280

I sent an email to the seller letting him know that this was an unpowered set of locos in case he wasn't aware of that fact and that as a reputable seller I knew that he would want to change his listing to make that fact aware to potential bidders. I also told him that I was awaiting a reply. I'm watching that listing, so we'll see. I'm not holding my breath!

I'm watching this auction. It is one of the sadder such events I have ever followed. The seller estimated end prices are way too high. The starting bids too high. So far, the majority of pieces are going unsold. Those that do move, the starting bid amounts are being drastically reduced to get any bids started. The sold prices a fraction of the estimate.

Now they are into the N Scale, starting bids at $1.00, so getting some action.

Surprised by some of the prices. Some because it's junk and and going for way more than I would pay and some because it's good stuff going dirt cheap!
