It's now evening. Perhaps in the interest of timeliness Mr. Reddie could give his notes to someone who can communicate in the modern manner - or must we wait for the magazine?
Is this some sort of joke? There has been less than no news out of this convention. Where is everyone? We have: Kato Amfleets MTL PS2 grain cars Walthers 2 bay hopper (anounced previously) AND......? Is that it? Really? Any news from Deluxe? How are they coping with the China issue? Do they have a plan? They have lots of nice stuff and really want to see more.
Glancing at the notes I took at the breakfast this morning (I apologise for any errors in advance)... The Amfleets by Kato, approx. Dec/Jan... FVM said the Gevos have done very well, and hopes to have new car announcements at the NMRA show. Also said he's sold over half a million metal wheelsets(!!), can't keep'em in stock, and is doing 3 new sizes of the wide thread wheels... Atlas says the factory in China getting rid of some of it's contracts should help Atlas deliver stuff in a more timely manner... Intermountain said there's 3 passenger cars in tooling, and 2 in early development. (The guy at the booth also said something about earlier AC's for the SP guys!) They've also jumped in the Z scale pool... Deluxe Innovations is looking for new factories to make it's stuff, the 20 footers will be made by the company that did the 20 foot reefers... Digitrax decoders in N that retail for under $20... and that's about it for the big stuff. Oh, and at the booth, Walthers said that the GP60's are requested a lot, so maybe there's hope. Not much news, really.
Nothing from Athearn? It was reported back in March that they had some big announcement for UP fans... :/
Nothing from Athearn. If I remember right, they talked about the sound in the F59's, and the monthly announcements they made a few days ago.
Perhaps they're waiting for the NMRA show. :/ Either way, thanks for the report Traindork! Gotta love the sound of more AC's!!
I I recall correctly the original thread on this got a response from Athearn that they were not planning anything and it was just a rumor. Looks like that may have been right.
Probably waiting for the NTS in Milw next month. I wonder if Amfleets are Kato's new passenger train...
Hmm it appears that two questions have been answered at once lol. I do hope DI can get some stuff out soon I really like their stuff!! Did FVM say how close the CP & NS Gevos were to being done? I'm getting antsy :tb-tongue:
Pictures from today's Mfg Bfast and Swaparama/Trainshow are here: nsc2010friday Photo Gallery by ATSF_Arizona at pbase.com Some highlights: The HO Fox Valley Models Hiawatha shell: Pre-production Intermountain SD40-M2 (note I said *Pre-Production*): Digitrax sound decoder install: You can go see a whole lot of pictures at the URL above. Much more to see, including Hien Ngyuen custom locos, projects from many other manufacturers, Kato Kobo Custom B&M RDCs (note I said *custom* - not a production run), a few more NTrak pictures. You really want to check out the N Scale Collector's and Lowell Smith special runs too. Lots to see in the album above. Hold on to your horses, the updates and news will get processed and posted here soon, I'm sure .
Thanks John, (sarcastically) I only kind of wanted the Canadian SD40-M2, now I REALLY want one. You should get a commission for helping IM with pre-sales!! 2slim
We need an MP15 AC and a SW1500in N Scale, hopefully someone will announce one in N Scale someday. The SD40-2W looked really nice, holds hope for the early version SD40-2 in the future.
I've been trying to track these convention reports on all three forums (thanks to those who have been posting them BTW) and somewhere I saw mention of Digitrax coming out with a line of decoders priced under $20. That caught my eye, as I've just tip-toed into DCC currently (three engines with decoders), but will soon be tackling the balance of the fleet. Any further info on the Digitrax announcement(s)?
This is on the Digitrax website. MSRP of 19 bucks will probably make it about $16 at discount locations such as many TrainBoard Advertisers.
Was there any announcement as to when the FVM GEVOS will be released? I've been anxiously awaiting the BNSF swoosh locos.
