    Website

I'll be there. Where is the web site?

[edit no. one] Found the N Scale Collector Website. Will there be a local club(s) sponsor?

Be sure to stop by the N Scale Vehicle Association's table and vote for the model vehicles that you think should win the Sixth Annual N Scale Vehicle of the Year Awards!

Anyone can go to the public show on Saturday. To get involved with the extra stuff during the week you have to register for the convention, which has a fee.

Since I lived and worked in the Houston / Clear Lake /Webster area some months back in 1997, it might be a good idea to come back for this event. I still remember the Houston highways :)

    Convention Registration Ideas

I did my registration and hotel reservations. FWIW, you get a 15US$ discount when you enter your hotel reservation number on the convention sign up sheet. Thus, it is necessary to reserve the hotel room before convention registration.

Also, I was unable to reserve a hotel room without the N scale convention "code" to get the $119 per night good guy deal. Otherwise, all rooms indicated full at that hotel. There should be several more hotels in the area. (Full retail room cost was 279 US$ and there were none available at that rate.)

    That is all I know.

    Possibly... its going to iffy.

The convention is as the tail-end of the 'busy season' of my job when I have to work manditory long days (10-12 hrs). I don't look forward to the March to June grind... sometimes the last two weeks of June are okay to take vacations. Unfortunately I can't make plans to attend... ergo... reserve hotel, plane-fare or car rentals in advance. Iffff... it turns out if I do go... its a last minute thing (like Louisville in 2008).

Chances are I would have to DRIVE from S.Fla (ugh). My wifes relatives live in Cedar Park TX (Austin). How long (hrs/minutes) is the drive from Austin to Houston?

Yeah, if you register hotel at this link it takes care of everything like the code and all. Even though I live about a mile away, I am staying at the hotel to be where the action is and be able to have room sales like everyone else. ;)

It's about 170 or so miles. Around three hours, depending on route and how you drive.

Nope, just a "committee" made up of a bunch of us N scale folks from around the state. Some of us from the Houston area, some from Austin and Dallas.

I plan on attending the convention. It's about a four hour drive from Frisco Tx.

Undecided right now. I've been doing a lot of travel lately, and have a lot coming up in March through May.

For those that are going to the convention I would suggest that you take the tour of the N scale layouts. Jason Smith in Tomball has an outstanding UP layout and Gordon Bliss's Santa Fe layout is a great for operations. Jason's layout will be featured in N Scale Railroading in the next few months. It was my understanding that there were going to be quite a few layouts, mine included, however, my layout was taken down last month prior to my moving to Albuquerque.
