Great photos John! Thanks for sharing and showing what we are missing! LOL (Chuck looks like he is having too much fun.)
Thanks for the pictures John... wish I could have seen these great layouts in person. I was curious about this [Harry Daniels] layout. Is it in the attic of his home... cause those alcoves look like closed-in dormers. Is there anything modeled within those alcove areas?
Great photos and updates. So, other than another run of Atlas MP-15s, any other news on what is coming in releases, special runs or new products? (Not everything is kept under wraps until the Manufacturers Breakfast.) Also, what about the special run cars people received for coming to the convention?
Some concerns exist for Chinese factory... On the Atlas Forum... there has been a thread going on for a couple of weeks regarding Kadar. Kadar is dropping several model railroad importers... which could create a problem for some model railroad companies. IIRC... Atlas and Intermountain are still 'preferred' companies that Kadar will produce items for. Not too sure about others though. I wouldn't be surprised if there are very few new models announced... both locomotives and rolling stock. Kato could still announce something else... as could Micro-Trains... since they do not outsource their production to China. As for Atlas and Intermountain... I guess it depends on how long it will take to move products already in the queue at Kadar. Question now is... how will this affect Athearn and Walthers/LifeLike future announcements.
Hi, Calzephyr, Harry Daniel's layout is built in a guest apartment that is above his garage. The alcoves are windows that are closed off. The helixes between the levels are in the alcoves.
Hi, PacRail, As far as I can tell, we haven't seen the manufacturers yet, and according to the schedule, we probably won't hear anything until the Manufacturer's Breakfast on Friday morning. Tonight is the Auction (no manufacturer's there), and tomorrow is the Banquet in the evening (unlikely manufacturer will reveal anything as the Mfg Bfast is the following Friday morning). Of course, if someone sees one of the manufacturers in the hallway, perhaps some news, but I would set your expectations for Friday morning. Just my opinion. Hope this helps!
The Athearn June announcement e-mail announced a new car a 50' STEEL Santa Fe reefer - thought they have already done one. The announcement doesn't say if it is a different version, or maybe the pdf is wrong. Here's the link to that info and the other releases: Athearn News
