I think that only a few people can create such mountains with such high artist skills, like Jedi master Torsja is able to do it. For beginners, more easy to use the Triny Lopez methode :note2:, break hard plaster with hammer and integrate the pieces into the fresh one.
The main house and its surroundings are now soon finished, I think. Some small things are missing, like gluing the house down, staircases, figures, cars and gluing the trees down and such details.
Great work. It's been a real pleasure following this thread from the start. Thanks for sharing it with us in this way so that we could see it coming together. Regards Ed .
It really looks convincing Torsja! You certianly cannot tell what scale it is, because everything looks so real and the details are perfect.
Torsja, Ben's Dorothy house and the surrounding yard are the BEST composition I have yet seen !!! The fence wrapping the property contours, the grass down the middle of the driveway, flag pole, mail box and variety of vegitation. WINNER ! .
torsja, you really have an eye for detail: the telephone pole, the variations in vegetation color. and i like the tattered signs/posters on the fence! you really MUST tell us how you did the dirt roads. they are the best i've seen in any scale. well done! it's a joy to look at. dave f.
And I still want to know your photography methods. Natural light, special camera lights? Super pictures no matter which! Loren
Fantastic work, looks like a real photo from the '60s!!!! The scenery is perfect, the "weakest" point on your layout in the meantime is the truck, on other layouts it would be the highlight......It's a pitty Micron Art has not something more "modern" in the program.
More details. Here you can se the difference between the new and old lighting poles. The old ones were actually made for my N-Scale layout some time ago. But the new ones are more the correct size for Z-Scale. PS: Sorry the car seems to always pop up in the pictures Gerd.
As for lighting the diorama for pictures you can se the stuff I use on this picture. It's one halogen lamp and three halogen spots in the roof. But I guess the white roof also make the light spread out a bit better in the room. I just set the camera on a tripod. Turn on the macro button and set the (AV) F-Setting to max for more depth and off course the autotimer setting.
First Wonderful :we2-jiggy: Second Thanks for the good idea about the ceiling halogen lamp for video illuminations :lightbulb:
Torsja I think your layout is just great!!!:bear-shocked:Magnificent, and inspiring. I took the liberty to put together the majors questions asked to you about your layout. There are some questions still waiting for some answers, it would be great if you could give some insight to them. I was really bored at the office today:bear-tongue:. Q. Did you use any cork road bed or just apply directly to plywood? It looks very good and very realistic!!! Chris- Answer: I didn't bother with cork roadbed. The Marklin section track is just held down with doubled sided tape. The ballast is gone fixate it in place when I get to it done anyway. Q. Looks great! What colors are you using to get that rock color? It has a fantastic look to it, very real. JoeS Answer: I basically use Woodland Earthcolours in various shades. Black, Stone Gray, White, Yellow ochre, Raw umber and so on. Not finished yet, Ill wait and se what kind off foliage ill use later on. Q. Holly cow! The mountain work is just speechless. Do you use a photo as a reference to do your mountain work? Ben Answer: ___ Q. Tree making question: Rowan Answer: This was answered with pictures in this thread. http://www.trainboard.com/grapevine/showpost.php?p=461789&postcount=73 Q. How did you make that dirt road? this was asked mostly a few time :bear-smile: Groetjes JoeS DavidF. Answer:___ Q. I like your trees, but can't find a Silflor product called "MiniNature Pine Tree imitation." do you have an item number or another name for the material you used, so i could try to find it around here or on the internet? thanks, dave f. Answer: I think this is the one that I used. #973-22 or 976-22 at www.bawaria.no Or look at http://www.e-silflor.de/upload/pdf/S...log_071120.pdf. Q. Your mountain modeling is AWESOME! I am new to train modeling. Please tell me what modeling medium you use? Answer: By Jeff. Torsja uses regular plaster, troweled on (you can see the the very course texture in the images). He then chisles away like Michaelangelo, cuts a bunch of cracks and rock seperatations with the knife (see page 8 of the thread for images). Q. Can you tell us what kind of lighting you use to get these great pictures? Answer: This question was answered in this thread http://www.trainboard.com/grapevine/showpost.php?p=464457&postcount=94 Thanks! Ben
Ben, good Idea to collect all those questions in one Thread but you forgot one: This one: BTW does this little Layout fit in my Baggage when I visit you in April in Oslo?
Fantastic pictures Torsja! I could swear those are real pictures from the past! Just 10 weeks to go until I can see it on the ZMOD Show in Oslo!
