Oh ny gosh!!! This is super the whole thing looks so real! And to think it is in Z scale and it is very hard to see without a magnifying glass. AMAZING!!!:tb-shocked::tb-biggrin:
There are details that I do not model in N scale because 'they are practically invisible and therefore not necessary'. But when I see that Torsja makes these details in Z scale........
Okay, now the new concrete pavement is finished. I'm not entirely convinced yet if it actually is an improvement over the previous paper tar mark. Making the concrete looking good is very hard to get right.
Torsja, I've always admired your exceptional photos. Can you tell us what kind of lighting you use to get these great pictures? I think we all realize that great modeling is only half the battle. One must be able to show it off in its best light, (forgive the pun) for others to be able to share in its beauty. I'm betting that you use some great lights to get your wonderful pictures. Loren
Torsja, the concrete Road looks definitely better. Awesome work! BTW does this little Layout fit in my Baggage when I visit you in April in Oslo?
Tree making: I made the Spruces with the use off real wood trunks sanded down and painted with brown and black. Glued on Silflor MiniNature's pine tree imitation cut in small squares with white glue. Don't remember the part number since I don't have the box any more. But first I dipped the Silflor in some kind off light brown "paint". (The liquid kind that you would use on your house and so on instead off ordinary paint I don't know what it's called in English sorry) Here they are after a spray off dull cote to get rid off the shiny parts. They are actually pretty easy to make. And don't take to long pr. tree.
The Flying Tydol sign is from "Bar Mills Scale model works" www.barmillsmodels.com . It's for N and H0 but I cut it down a bit and added my own printout off another old poster I found with I customized some on my computer. I actually got this sign as part off some trading I did with my own stuff. First I didn't know what to do with it, but the small gas station I made first just fit the sign spot on together with my diorama.
Well Torsja, you sure figured out what concrete pavement looks like after years of driving and weather. I really like the dirt road transition to the track crossing. And the first picture has the train heading for the right place, Tuborg !! .
Thanks for those photos of the trees. Some of our council people in Brisbane will have check your concrete to see how too do it for real!
torsja, i like your trees, but can't find a Silflor product called "MiniNature Pine Tree imitation." do you have an item number or another name for the material you used, so i could try to find it around here or on the internet? thanks, dave f.
I think this is the one that I used. #973-22 or 976-22 at www.bawaria.no Or look at http://www.e-silflor.de/upload/pdf/Silflor_Katalog_071120.pdf
WOW!! Torsja - Your mountain modeling is AWESOME! I am new to train modeling. Please tell me what modeling medium you use? MIKe On this side I have used a Faller double tunnel portal. [/quote]
Hi Mike, Torsja uses regular plaster, troweled on (you can see the the very course texture in the images). He then chisles away like Michaelangelo, cuts a bunch of cracks and rock seperatations with the knife (see page 8 of the thread for images). BTW: please try and just use the "Quick Reply" button in the lower right as using the Quote Post makes for very, very long posts due to the repeated images. Thanks, .
