Here is a little photo from last month. It was taken at Ajin. The AC-12s are planned to be released next month (March). I hope you like the photo! Rob
Cool, It looks that is going to quit allot off manual labor done by the workers before they meet the standards off AZL ?
That's a fun photo! It is always interesting to see where our trains were built, what they looked like on the assembly line, and how the whole manufacturing process is performed. More please! -Robert
Yes, there is still a lot of hand work remaining on these locos. I just love this photo of all the cabs! As for price, I am estimating arround $1,500.00. I won't have the final number until next month. It will be a while of the GP7 and GP9s. Sorry! Rob
Hey Rob K., Any updates on these beauties? Are they still on the same April schedule as the SD70's? Just curious, and can't stop thinking Z. Bryan
The AC-12s are set to ship from Korea in three days (February 20th). I should be able to start releasing them by the end of March! Rob Kluz
Just a question. (Coming from an N scaler observing more than a few apparent manufacturing whiffs from Ajin) How have Ajin products fared in the Z scale market?
I have 6 of the AZl locos they built, and they all run real good. I also have some Model Power Pacific's in N built by Ajin that run good. -Robert
As a whole, Ajin has done very well. There has been a few oddities along the way, and each run is a learning process. For instance, the PA1 and E8s were okay, but it did take some tinkering to fine tune the PAs. The SD45s, F45s, SD40s, and GS3/4 run are incredible! I also love the F59PHI run, but there were a few design issues that needed addressed. Easy things to fix, but items that could have been corrected in the factory. AZL has spend a lot of time working with Ajin on both the AC12 run and SD70 run and I am expecting very good trains. Rob Kluz
Any chance of D&RGW 3600's (2-8-8-2's) in Z?? On a side note, any chance of an injection molded SD40-series unit in Z? That brass unit costs way too much for my blood.
I have got to get up there and take a look. Would you believe that I only live 2 hours away, and have never been there to see the trains? -Robert
There is always a chance for Rio Grande 2-8-8-2s. I think AZL though will be looking more East coast for their followup steam release. As for injection SD40-2s, sorry, but it is not on the near term list of locomotives to offer. AZL will not even consider the run until all of the brass SD40s are sold out. Great photo Heine! Rob
