I like your trees......looks like you fertilized them good and proper when planting.

    Looking forward to your 'forest'

I like the trees too. That style "Fuller Brush Method" trees always looks best to me. Now I found another fun tree trick thanks to Jeff.

I tried Jeff's suggestion to give color variation on my trees and I think it worked pretty good.

What I did was to plant a dozen trees each in several styrofoam bases, then lightly mist with various shades of greens, blues, gray's, and browns, holding the spray can 2 feet above the trees. Just 2 or 3 sprays, and you really cannot see much color change. I then sprayed on dullcote because not all the paint was flat finish.

Afterwards I randomly planted trees of the slightly different shades, and the effect was pretty striking. natural color variations.

Robert, I do that to my layouts too. It seems to blend in the scenery, and give it that random look.

We'll I made up a batch of trees. I did give some thought to some quick spray paint passes for color variation, but ultimately decided to do it by using different mixes of foam for each tree. Since I don't have any spray paint cans, except for clear acrylic, I would have to go out and buy them. And since I am doing alot of this with left over scenery supplies, the cost of the spray cans would almost double the out of pocket cost of the trees, so I decided it wasn't worth it for such a small batch.

Installed:Hmm that batch didn't cover as much space as I hopped it would. 52 trees total. Doesn't look like it but it is. I guess I'll need another batch.

Someones getting an early Christmas tree. Small trees were made with 34 gauge wire.

    Kurt,

I bought mine from luggage.com, and at the time it was on sale for ~$85. Now I see that it's sold out, and priced at $99.

The case is a TZ Case model TZ0025SD 15"x25"
TZ Case also makes a more hefty model in the same size. Model number TM0025SS. It has better corner fittings and costs $20 more.

They also sell shotgun cases that you could use to make a 15"x36" or 15"x52" layout in.
