Got to know where there were a couple of those up around Marinette/Menominee before going into the Army. I was payed to deliver some supplies.
That sure brings back memories of the rail and computer work bench. And the bigger one out in the garage. Mostly gone now. But hoping for some comeback. Richard.
My first sheet of Sunnyscopa decal paper - Colors look pretty good, sharp print, HP6970 MFP. Just did 3 passes with Dullcote and now we wait. I’m gonna prob try applying one to model card as a test. I had microset but now I have microsol and microset handy.
First try was a fail. My suspicsions: 1 - Not enough layers of dullcote 2- Too warm of water 3- Not enough cure time on dullcote - I waited about 1-1.5 hr Dullcote I purchased:
My first set of decals that I printed myself at home had the same result. I used Mr Hobby Flat Clear because I needed them flat. Keep going over it with the dullcote-I rehabilitated the rest of that sheet with added layers. Maybe a total of five. I think the first couple the can was too far away and I didn’t get it wet enough. About 2 hrs between coats (I think) and it was dry before I did the next coat. Good luck. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk
Ok cool - I guess I'll consider my sets of passes one layer. I did a total of 4 passes at 940, another 4 passes at 1110. I'll maybe do another pass or 2 and then let them sit over night.
Happy with my progress I’m stuck til Monday when the metal tray jig comes for setting up walls. I forgot what a pain model railroad walls are. Will continue putting white wash in the bricks for more pronounced mortar. Glad I went with white vs brown. Loving the blue window sills - they compliment the gold brick so well.
One thing I noticed on my "country" drive to the hobby shop today is I caught myself looking at industries and how things are weathered. I saw a silver dome with a point and noticed all the rust was between the rivets, NOT on the rivets. This hobby has me doing weird stuff hahaha.
According to my friends it's not only doing weird stuff. It is TOTTALLY WEIRD!! But then, we rode motorcycles as well.
Not on my workbench anymore , but heading to my buddy's layout . Love GHQ and Showcase Miniatures stuff.
I've found the engine I want for DCC - now the question is do I install the decoder myself or ante up. If it's simply dropping the chip into a socket that doesn't scare me.
ive had a lot of problems with my sd70ace . its constantly having pickup problems , but when it runs well she sure does pull better than mules. now its having back up problems like its binding up in the gears twisting the rear trucks... for now it sits someplace. its a kato unit . i wont be buying any more of those.........
