    Hey all!
Been sittin' back reading lately. Enjoyed all the posts and insights. Anyways...
I'm hoping to get a couple places on my time off from work (well... my paying job). I trying to get by some of my friends and family. It'll be Sept. 16-29. Starting from Port Charlotte,FL, I hope to get to Oklahoma City, OK; Clevland, OH; and Around Richmond, WV.
Any of ya's in that path, that might not mind a visit? Perhaps some breeze shoot'n (talking) about layouts, trains, what have ya'. I'd like to see some layouts and see how bad I'm doing. [IMG] [IMG]
Also, make some person to person friends.

    Rail Angels to ya'll.

    Hey Sir Prize,

Let me know if you're ever passing through Southern California. If I'm in town, I'll shoot the breeze with ya!

Hey Sir_Prize! I am 35 miles east of Cleveland in Concord, Ohio. You can stop here and shoot the breeze if you want. My layout isn't much to see right now as I am presently in the process of building a room for it in my garage but if you happen to be able to be here on the 27th,
I am hosting my Ntrak club's monthly meeting that evening. We would be more than happy to have a guest sit in.

Espee- Hmmm.... A bit far this year. BUT NEXT YEAR... Oh Ya! A trip to Cali would be awesome!

Herman- I will take you up on the invite. Hmmm... I think I will be there about then. Perhaps we can take in some fanning before the meet, or least point me to some interesting things. [IMG]
I'll be sure to have snacks! [IMG]
Thanks for the offer both of ya' [IMG]

Well if you want to go a bit farther south, I'm in Columbus Ohio. Layouts up and running, and NS CSX are fairley active here. We also have a couple of good hobbyshops too...Mike

Great! Perhaps I can clean the track on the layout and at least do a demo run. CSX and NS are right up the road and there are several good spots to watch, but Berea (on the west side of Cleveland) is the best spot around the area to railfan. I could take you to the hobby shop that I work at, if you are interested. [IMG]

I'll be coming back to Fostoria/Deshler soon enough. At least once more before the snow flies. Hey Brian. Have you heard anything about that Dean Rutter guy at the club coming to look at my friends layout? He told me that he would donate it free of charge. I emailed his girlfriend with no response. So if he can't decide, maybe you can take charge?
Huge N scale layout for the Deshler model railroad club and historical society. Man, They would throw a parade just for you! [IMG] I can see it in the local paper.

    Yep....the town hero you'll be. ;) :D

Romafern- Sorry! [IMG] Perhaps next year. :D

BrianS and Herman- I was thinking of trying a railtrip from Clevland down to Cinncy. Got family down there. Plus, the last time I was on a train I had to use a car seat. [IMG]

You mean taking a train from Cleveland to Cincy? Only option would be to go via Chicago...

Day trips around here are few and far between. You have to go to Pennsylvania, Maryland or West Virginia for the good stuff. There is the Ashtabula, Carson & Jefferson trip that goes about 6 miles and turns around to go back. In my opinion, it's cheap. But you are getting no more than you are paying for. An Alco S-4 I believe with a few rusty heavyweight cars and a caboose. The train travels down a section of track that is so overgrown, the trees slap the train for the entire trip and you can see nothing.
The Cuyahoga Valley Line is better but still a relativly short trip. Last I knew it was pulled by an Alco FA1 or PA1 I forget which. The equipment is better though. The passenger cars are refurbished. the last time I rode this train, it was pulled by a steam engine. Not any more though. There is the Sugar Creek run down in Amish country but I don't know much about that one. Brian? Know of any others?

Herman- Thanks for the heads up.

Well a deal I've been working on came through. I'm now $16780 in debt.
With a '02 Ranger Supercab 4dr.; ALMOST; all power Pickup. Only had 12mi on the Oddy.

Ohio Central in Sugar Creek isn't a bad ride, 'specially if they're using steam... Then there's also the Toledo Lake Erie & Western out my way, but that isn't worth half what they charge anymore. Getting farther away there's the Kentucky Railway Mususem, down by Louisville and the Indiana Transportation musuem north of Indy; both are pretty good, but probably farther than you wanted to go.

Congrats on the new Ranger! I have not seen the 4 door yet but am very curious about them. The lease on my Tacoma is up next year and I definately need more room with the little guy around. I don't care for pickups with the rear seats facing each other. I would assume the 4 door has front facing seats?

Actually the one I got is the type with the jump seats. They list it as a Extended Supercab 4dr., but it's more of a 3.5 dr. (2 full, 2 half).

You been to the LARGE scale trains over in the parks in Cleveland? I forget which one in that Greenbelt it is at the time. I'll look it up.
