I am always impressed with your work. I don't have much to say on it except that I like what I see. :)

ok today i will start drawing up the layout and maybe lay some track, i am thinking should i move the crossover on the far right which is at the end of the layout before the removable cassette to the right slightly so i can at least cross one locomotive?

Yes, so you can cross at least one locomotive. Or far enough to cross two locomotives? Double crossover?

You have a lot of turnouts there. How are you going to operate them, and power the frogs?

All manually operated with throw over levers, the peco code 83 electrofrogs are a switched frog just have to insulate the back of the frog

Today i was able to lay some track although it hasnt been glued down yet, I havent laid track for almost 20 years but it soon came back to me. first two photos are of the L section. The second two photos i have a question, which is the better yard throat for the classification yard, the first or second arrangement

The second one would give you more equal siding lengths

Prototypically, number 1, visually number 2. I like the space #2 creates. I have a long yard throat and because it's narrow, you lose siding length to hold back your train for clearance. Not a big deal but a reality.

Looks good, Paul. Do you glue the track down? Have you sealed the base to keep it from absorbing water?

Yes the track is glued, the first section I used liquid nails but found it to dry too quick so am now using wood glue. No haven't thought about sealing the MDF have never had any problems in the past

Which configuration did you choose? #1? #2? Per photo in post #113, looks like it might be #2?

Will you raise any of the yard tracks above the level of the 'main'?
