As this is part of the brewery, I assume it is for incoming grain. Will there be a discharge hopper under the track?

Not great weather here this weekend so gave me the chance to do a little more on the layout, after completing the grain section of the brewery I decided to have a go at the brewery receiving and distribution building. I bought two walthers kits and kitbashed into one specifically for the area. I decided to keep the original colour however I will weather at some stage although my wife prefers clean.

I sprayed the kit with dullcote to at least remove the shine

I need some advice below are images of my next project it's a modified hardware kit that will be used as a backdrop. The problem is the kit is unpainted and is a mixture of brick pattern and concrete. I tried brushing the brick work with acrylic and it looks terrible (see pic 1) So what are my options? Do I spray the whole model in brown or do i have to mask it up which would be so time consuming. Any advice would be much appreciated

I have assembled the exact same kit a few years ago. I ended up painting the whole structure brown , then masked off the brick portions and painted the concrete portions by hand. It was somewhat time consuming, but not excessive.

Looking real good. On painting the one building, I masked off the "concrete" areas and sprayed the brick area. I just had the backdrop kit in the back of the picture. After removing the masking, I just gave everything a coat of dull coat.

I am to the point now where ballasting the yard should start, but right now I am so busy, I haven't had the time.

Waiting to see more updtes. Looks like it should be a great industrial area.

Today I airbrushed the kit and did some assembly, just need to cut the roof and a few more mods. notice 3 different coloured doors this enable me to add 3 additional locations to my switch list, particular loads will go to different doors

This morning I finished installing the roof and tank then adding a black backdrop behind the structure, here is the result, also spent two hours switching the layout with switch list, working great

today I assembled the powerhouse/ boilers for the brewery unfortunately it was larger than i originally had planned which meant a redesign of the fuel siding from two to one roads however I lost no car space and it actually looks far better

Amazing what adding these structures does to the feel of this layout.

The layout is really beginning to look good. Structures make a huge difference and bring an initial plan into 3-D :)

Very true Alan the more structures i install bring the layout to life, also I have been running some operation sessions and am really happy with the level of switching the layout brings

I find it do much more satisfying to switch a layout instead of just running long trains. Every movement has a purpose.
