Wow felt just like I had been there my self with the great photography. Thanks John for your time and efforts in the Convention coverage. Very much appreciated:thumbs_up:
Did any one at the convention get Custom painter Hein Ngyuen's email or contact info ? I couldnt make the show , and wanted to get some of his increadable loco creations. Jason
So I know I am a newbie but who is this charlie Hopkins, and does he have a web site? His stuff is super nice...
Here is Hein's email: tin1197@yahoo.com. He had some great stuff, as was expected, and I picked one up I thought would look right at home in CA.
Flash at room sales getting a picture. This was in Bobs room, and his stuff looked great! The caboose kits are incredibly detailed in person.
In Hein's room looking at his awesome line-up of engines for sale. His work is mind blowing! Definatly some of the best you can buy, and he and his family are just wonderful to talk and spend time with.
I attended a few clinics, and one was Bob Knights on putting brass models together. Outstanding clinic, and can't wait to do my first brass model. (Hurry up with those ATSF Cabooses Bob! ) LOL
Now I wasn't going to go to this clinic, but was spending time with John Sing and he wanted to hear what Steve Engelhardt had to say about foam construction. Boy was I glad I stayed.
This display is made completely out of foam....I mean everything, including the tree and house. I was sold!
Here I have been delaying progress on my layout because of my back, worried about lifting heavy wood and this foam is light weight!! I could have been done already! LOL
I have seen it over and over and in photos, but to view it in person was like looking at it for the first time. It is an incredible piece of work! The detailing and modeling is some of the best I have seen. Everywhere I looked I noticed things you just don't see in photos.
Here Russell talks to my mom and her boyfriend, (Who restores old cars and raced Corvettes in the quarter mile), about the history of stop signs. Norm later told me when he thought of a 'toy train' he thought of the big Lionels he had as a boy. He said it looks like the skies the limits with them now.
