Well folks, after the eventful week we've had, it's time for SNFF!! With an impending move, I've stopped all layout construction, and shifted my attention to some more detailing of a few of my Atlas locos... The horn on the DRGW needs to be moved backward and the nose headlight covered with a black patch to match the prototype. Maybe next week... So... show us what you did!
Here are a few images I scanned in tonight. Switching the MoPac yard in back of the sugar mill. A small water tower for railroad steam engines and the legs of a larger water tower. The small brick building was the machine shop for the plant. Two water towers.
Nice work William! No new work on my layout, but I did take a couple of new shots: Someday I'll get the nerve up to weather my locos...
I'm glad SNFF is here at Trainboard. I have often viewed the topic on the Atlas fourm but never posted. For my first post, here is a ConCor autorack decorated for the NAFTA Railway. The panels on the car are the etched metal panals from JnJ. While the car doesn't match the prototype but I liked the look and wanted to represent it in my fleet.
Kris, welcome to Trainboard! What a way to get started! How did you get that map there? Bruce, I know how you feel about not wanting to weather up those locos. I know I'll muster up the nerve some day... Nice autorack, Richard! And how do you like the AutoMax?
Hi folks, Haven't been doing much on the layout lately since I've been busy with some N-Trak modules, so here's some new shots of old stuff These are the modules under construction:
A follow on shot to the previous thread I posted of my new DRGW tunnel motor: And a close up shot of the third unit w/ some weathering I did this week - a SD40M-2 that has spent alot of time in the tunnels of Tehachapi recently: Dave
William, These new Automax racks are nice. Here is the one painted AUTOMAX that I got Saturday afternoon. Have some BNSF racks on the way. They will be in one day this week.
Wow, Russ - I was thinking the only thing you need to make that scene complete is emergency sirens for an oncoming tornado!!! The 'gamble' on the Nn3 C16 wrapper paid off. I cut it down and resoldered it last night, and the results were everything I hoped for. Since I can't make rivets, hacking something else up seemed the best way out: My particular 28-ton prototype had a high tank with no taper at all, so this is actually what I was looking for. In the real one, the tank looks almost 'too high' for the engine. That super macro put a little distortion into that view and makes the cab look crooked; I swear it's not!!! Now, where's that order of Z couplers? I think the worst is over now - the tank was the last thing I had NO CLUE how I was going to do when I started. I'll post these over on the 28-ton thread later, if you see that updated it's the same thing. The 'big road engine' behind this in the shot is my ex-Rapido 0-6-0 converted to a 2-6-0, I'm tellin' ya, this Shay is dinky!
this week I've painted and decaled a F40PH and a F59PHi... ...TRI-RAIL F40PH with two flywheels and self made decals (and "ditchlights" ) ...I know, they don't have this engine in real, there was no other engine available so I've painted this Athearn F59PHi... (oohps, I've to check the front truck, something is wrong...)
Chris333, Neat pic! Tank car behind locomotive is interesting. More photos and/or description of car?? Here's the latest addition to my railroad: And spotted behind the special movement train, are a couple of VARR coal hoppers. Waiting for special movement permission, due to trucks/couplers!
Wel Ho, Ho, Ho, ya'll. The following NTRAK module photos were seen on Atlas Forum but may be new to some. I haven't recovered form a move 6 months ago and haven't found all og my stuff. I hope you enjoy. the night skybosrd has stars made from 3 sizes of fibers lit by leds and the lights around trailer and house are also fibers. Over 1,100 feet of fibers. Lots of fun ! ... See you in Chantilly Lilly !!!!!
VERY NICE!!!!!!! Being an old TrainBoard member I for one am enjoying this for the first time so THANKS a bunch for posting this here.
Great work everyone! That Shay is incredible randgust! And William - I'm intrigued by the weathering on the Cotton Belt unit in the background of your picture - it looks awesome - can we see the whole unit? Excellent modeling gang! Dave
Y'all are going to wishing for that snow in Chantilly in August!!! Wish I coulda gone... Nice hoppers, Keith! How did you get them so soon? Has Brian's been playing favorites again? Randy and Chris - you may get tired of hearing this, but your micro-skills are simply outstanding!!
